Commercials Are Ruining My Songs

I'm watching the VH1 Classics A-Z 80's Videos marathon.
Which is pretty cool.
I love my 80's tunes.
It is my era after all.

As I write, they are playing Bananarama-" Venus".
Great!

What's the problem?

Now, I hear the song and all I think of that Venus razor commercial.

Why do they do this to me?

"Melt With You" by Modern English is now part of a Burger King commercial.
Grrrr!

"Revolution" by the Beatles now makes me think of Nike.
I really liked that song too.

For God's sake Carnival Cruises used Queen's "You're My Best Friend".
You just don't mess with Queen. Ok I am sure the remaining live members made out pretty good.
But still.
It's Queen and now its in a commercial.
That's just not cool.

So many good songs and I hate that now they are irrevocably attached to companies and brands.

It saddens me.
Terribly!

Busting Out The Grill

It is Memorial Day(observed) after all.

Yesterday was the traditional before EVERY holiday had to get moved to Monday so governments and banks could get a three day weekend.

They'd move Thanksgiving and Christmas too if they could.
I know it.
You know it.
Trust me, deep down YOU do know it.

I love to grill and today is a great day to do it.
Memorial Day just screams that it must be done.

After all isn't that what Memorial Day is all about?

Well, except for honoring fallen soldiers and sticking flags on graves.

When I was a kid, we didn't do anything.
No flags or visits to cemeteries.
No grilling out or camping.

God, I was deprived wasn't I?

I just remember it as a day off from school.

Mondays was a laundry day for Mom.
Can't disturb the laundry day.
I don't have a set laundry day so it moves around as I like it too.

But today we are going to grill.
I already have my potato salad in the fridge.
Just doing the hot dogs today.

The one and truly only great way to eat a hot dog.
I can even stand the cheap, crappy dogs if they are cooked over a grill.

I get Hebrew Nationals though.
I am not eating cow butts, thank you very much.

I hope you have a great Memorial Day!

I may be back later on, maybe not.
I am subject to whims.

What Have They Done To The Glue?

Is it me or is the glue companies are putting on plastic cracker and cereal bags getting extremely hard to rip open and more prone to tearing?

Also, the safety tops on jugs and bottles are ripping before they come off.

What is going on?

I just annihilated a sleeve of ritz crackers trying to open it.
Don't worry.
The crackers are fine.
It's the plastic sleeve I am worried about.

I hope they aren't using that cheap toxic glue that killed Susan on Seinfeld.
That might not be good for us.

Toxic or not, I am sure they went to this cause it is cheaper to use.

It's always cause it is cheaper, not better.

Maybe it's a combination of the glue AND the plastic.
I think the plastic is thinner.

Why do they have to do this to me? Us? The world?

I miss being able to lift the tab on the ketchup bottles and the safety cover would pull off.
Now, they have a tab attached at the top that says lift to pull off.
And the plastic part does pull off. It pulls off the cover and the cover stays on the bottle.
WTF???

Now, I am just going to sit here eating way more crackers than I planned, just because of that stupid new packaging they got goin' on.
And I am too lazy to go get a baggie to put the crackers in.

Hey!

Maybe it is all part of their evil, master plan.

Make the stuff hard to get into so they rip the bag of crackers or cookies.
So they have to eat more.
They will run out sooner.
So they have to go BUY more.

Pretty smart!

Too bad, I'm on to them now.

It Just Seems So Dirty

I know.

It's really not.

But, it looks that way.

All greasy and nasty.
Just looks like it needs to be washed.

What am I talking about??

Only some of the ickiest looking commercials on TV.

The hair ones.
No, not the Burger King commercials- those come close. But, they are all just creepy and disturbing and the hair ones are just disgusting.

Really shiny hair does not look healthy.
Just so you hair color and shampoo companies know.
It looks oily and in terrible need of a wash.

If I go too long without washing my hair, that is exactly what it looks like.
I know it feels nasty too, so I just think seeing it on ANYONE is just EWWWW!.

It used to be just shampoo commercials that showed really shiny hair.
But, just today I saw a hair color commercial featuring Kate of "Lost" fame and her hair was shiny and nasty. Much like it looked when she was on the island and hadn't had a shower in what- days or weeks- and was all sweaty and gross haired.

I'd just like to see a hair commercial where it didn't look as if the woman had a pound of pomade dumped on her head.

Is that too much to ask?

Just What Kind Of Hook Up Is This?

I gotta tell ya.

I am a bit confused by what anniversaries and engagements mean to some people.

To mean, an anniversary is when a couple celebrates the anniversary of their wedding.
And an engagement is something that means a marriage is coming. EVENTUALLY.

First off, the anniversary.

I know all these people that aren't married celebrating their anniversaries.
This confuses me.

Some people celebrate the day they met.
Some celebrate their first date.
Some, the day they moved in together.

I am sure there are as many reasons as people.

But, when people that aren't married say it is their anniversary I never know what that quite means.

And I have to say, I can't even tell you the date my husband and I met or started dating or even moved in together.
Maybe I am the odd ball and women are supposed to know these things.
I just never thought it mattered so I never checked the calendar.

And what about people that say that they are engaged, but have been that way for years.
They say it doesn't matter.

OK.

Fair enough.

But, why are they saying they are engaged but not getting married?

They can just be a couple content with things and not giving a crap what people think?
I guess I just don't see the point.
They obviously don't care too much about getting married or they would have done it.
And if they don't care about being married, why bother being engaged for 5+ years.

Just sayin'.

Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying

Things have been busy for me lately so I haven't found the time to jot much down before now.

But, I am hoping I can get things calmed down enough to concentrate on my blogs more.

Well, I can try again.

Well, Gary Coleman died yesterday.
So, there's a security job opening somewhere.
Ok, I know.
Bad, bad joke.

But, what are ya gonna do?

Today Dennis Hopper died.
Put his foot on the brake and that was all.

The circle of life has come to it's natural conclusion.

I have been surrounded all my life by death.
I come from a very large extended family.
My dad was one of 14 and his parents both had many siblings.

So, basically from birth I knew what a funeral home was.

People passing on was always a part of my life.

It is always sad when it ends for someone.
Especially someone we really care about.

As hard as it is, there is always something we can take away.

First be grateful for the time you were given with that person.
Not everyone is lucky to have that amount of time you got with their mother, father, daughter, son, etc, etc.

You always need to be grateful for what you have right now.
There are no guarantees in life.

What you have or who you have in your life might not be there tomorrow.

We always think that people are just always going to be.
And life just isn't that way.

Life gets so busy and sometimes it seems like things will never slow down enough for us to catch our breath.
But we have to MAKE the time.
It just doesn't fall into our laps.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.
Ferris was wise.

That counts for everything, including slowing down to appreciate everyone you love.

Be A Mom Why Don't You?

Here's my gripe for the day.

Why do some people have such suck ass parents?

Being a parent isn't always fun.
Far from it.

At the same time why do some people think all they gotta do is take care of the physical?

They never think about being there emotionally.

Some, they don't want to or for whatever reason can't.

Others just don't even seem to think that there are things they could help their child with.

I must say that I am actually proud of myself as a mom.

I used to really question how well I was doing.

But, I see my daughter at 13 to be a great kid.
So, I know I did good.

She still talks over things with me and I hope that never ever changes.

She values my opinion and she has a pretty good sense of self worth.

She has gone through so much in her short life and I am glad she came out the other side better.

I take my job as a mom seriously and it is my job to guide her through things and always be there for her in whatever way that may be.

Some parents I just want to smack up side of the head and ask them what in the hell do they think they are doing.

And just cause the child is older and maybe headstrong does not mean they don't need their mom or dad.

I Don't Need No Stinkin' Tips!

So, I signed up for a newsletter a few days back on being thrifty.

I don't know what I was thinking.

I guess that maybe I'll learn something else I don't know.

But, two days in and I am already wondering about my thinking on the day I signed up.

Day 1 tip.
Go a day without spending money. No coffee, no lunch out. Take everything with you. And no shopping.

That's not a tip.
That is common sense.

Every one knows that the best way to save money is not to spend money.

Isn't that the way it is supposed to go?

Second tip was to clean out your closet for consignment or donate them for a tax deduction.
And don't put clothes into a monthly budget. You don't need to buy clothes monthly.

Again something I already know.

In fact, I can go years without buying new clothes.
Course I am not a fashion diva.
But, I do clean up OK, anyway.

Maybe I need to start a newsletter on thrifty tips.

How hard can it be?

Don't spend money today.
Don't buy clothes this month.
Walk across the street to the store, instead of driving.
Save by not buying kleenex. Blow your nose on toilet paper. Or save more, by using your hand.

I know the last was icky, but I just HAD to go there.

See, I have some fabulous ideas.

They're all just up there churning around dying to get out.

The Sixth Sense of LOST

Watched the finale of LOST tonight.
I know it was on last night.

But Kiddo had her Tae Kwon Do test so it got taped.

But, this way we got to cut out all the commercial and get it all watched in under 2 hours.

Didn't watch the recap show.
Why?

If you watched it, you know what happened.

They did WAY too many of those recap shows anyway.

I really am not sure what I thought of the show.
It wasn't bad.

I am sure by now you have seen this or read what happened.
Or heard on the radio.
Or heard from people.
Or saw on TV.

But, just in case.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!

All the people were dead.
Uh-huh.

But they didn't know it.

Doing the in limbo thing.

It made me think of Bruce Willis in "The Sixth Sense".
Ya know.
He was dead but he didn't know it.
He found out at the end though.

Just like in Lost.

But at my house we had thought of this scenario weeks ago.

The problem I have with shows ending anymore is that they don't want to give away anymore than they have to so they just shove everything into the finale to wrap it all up.

Get more people to watch the finale this way.

Maybe I am the only one that feels like this.

I feel they did it like that with Friends as well as Lost.

Maybe that is how finales should be.

I never did really like how how showed their LA world along with their island world.

But, I don't know that their was a better way to do it.

And I guess they couldn't have told much more in earlier shows without people figuring it out.

But, still.

Remember in past seasons it took months to cross the island and tonight, they are going from one to the other and fixing planes in no time.

I don't know.

Not bad for a finale.

But so many passengers weren't there.

Ohhh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kiddo got her black pro temp in Tae Kwon Do today.

So happy for her.

Not much else to report for now.

Changin' It Up

I got my new Victoria's Secret catalog today and I started to wonder about the evolution of words.

You know.
Underwear words.

When did G-strings become thongs and thongs were no longer footwear?
They are now referred to as flip flops.

It was just like all of a sudden EVERYONE decided at the same time the world needed to change words on the unsuspecting people.

To me, it is no big deal if my mother calls flip flops thongs.
When I grew up, that's what they were.
But, my daughter thinks she is being dumb.

At least she has stopped giving Grandma odd looks over it.

Thongs are panties to her and always have been.

And why are boy shorts a type of underwear?

They don't look like boys or mens underwear.
And they look nothing like shorts I have ever seen a boy wear.

I Can't Think Of a Title

Well, I did think of one, but it turns out I had already used it.

And Can't think of a title seems not to be taken.
So, here we are.

I had a great visit with my niece yesterday.
She stayed quite a while.

Tonight, Kiddo is going to a dance at the middle school.
I hope she enjoys herself.

Not sure why she is going though.
The last time she went to one, she hated it.

She is definitely not a pop rock or country music loving gal.
Give her Avenged Sevenfold or Mudvayne and she is happy.
Give her Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift- not so much.

And they always play the crap she hates at these things and she has to pay to get in to hear said crap.
But it is her allowance money.
And she MIGHT enjoy herself.
It is possible.

She's got some girls to hang out with so she might have fun.

I used to go to all the dances in high school and middle school.
I danced all the time.
Except for the slow ones cause I didn't have anyone to dance with.
But, I loved it.

I love to dance!

And back then, they played the good stuff.
AC/DC
Billy Idol
Steppenwolf
The Beastie Boys
Billy Squier
Van Halen
and can't forget Nirvana

Ya know, the good music.
The kind to shake your booty to.

Yes, I did dance my way through the 80's where there was fantastic music goin' on.
But, I know there is some good new rock goin' on.
Yet, sad to say, many people just listen to the CRAP available.
And so that is what the schools play at dances.

Poor kids.

Just Waiting...............

My niece, Morgan is coming to visit me today.

I am looking forward to that.

But, I am not feeling too optimistic about the day.

My first act after getting up was trying to call a prescription refill in and calling the wrong number.
At 6:30 in the morning.
Yikes!

It was a house.
Luckily the person answering sounded like he was awake.

It can only go up hill from there, though.
Right?

I left my ID, debit card, and credit card at home. Good thing Walgreens and Fareway accepted checks.

Well, I have been a tad spacey.
Bet, you couldn't tell that.

And I forgot to get wheat flour at the store.

But, other than that so far so good.
Well, I do need to go get said prescription out of the car.

I so cannot wait to see what the rest of the door has in store for me.

People Are So Funny!

I just read a post from someone that said " I can't believe I forgot my cell phone".

Ya know, I do it all the time.
Sure, my cell phone has no service attached so I couldn't call anyone with it.
But still.
I do it.

I often wonder, as I am sure to do.
Cause that's what I do.
I wonder.
About things.

But, what did people with cell phone attachment syndrome do before they had their cell phone?

CPAS or cell phone attachment syndrome is the condition where a person always carries their cell phone with them. To the point that they feel bereft without it.
And if possible, will turn around and go home just to get it.

And the only cure is just to get that phone out of your possession.
And you must never hold one again.

So, I am sure most people will never be cured.

I personally like knowing that people cannot get a hold of me whenever they want.

I know you can shut it off. But why carry it around if you aren't going to have it on?
I know.
Just in case.
Whatever.

I am just glad to know I don't have CPAS.

Stupid Deer

So, I got my peppers and tomatoes out yesterday and I go check on them this morning.

And what do I find???

A deer has been busy sampling half the tomato plants I put out.
Some he/she just bit off branches and dropped them on the ground beside the plant.

So today I am going to have to put containers over them so it doesn't come back and finish off the job.

Stupid deer.

Yeah, they're pretty and all that crap.

But, not so great when they eat my apples and peaches and tomatoes.

Stupid deer!

Sometimes I Wonder

I wonder about a great many things.

Things I don't think I am supposed to wonder about.

Stupid little things.

Like in the movie 2012, which was movie night #3 last week.
After the dad and son got the gate closed all the way, how did they get everybody out?
They had closed off sections of the ship that was taking on water and there was still water in those sections.
Was there like a drain and when the water all ran out the section unlocked or what?

See, I think about things I am not supposed to really care about.

Or did they have deleted scenes and it was in there? Or man, I didn't even think of checking those.

I normally don't watch those or the alternate endings.

However I love to watch extended versions cause it any deleted scenes are already incorporated into the movie.

Incorporated- I know, it's a big word this early in the morning.

Another Busy One

I was so busy today so I did not get as much done as I needed to.

I actually thought I'd have more time to get more online stuff done.

But, I am pooped.

I did laundry along with my usual mom stuff.

But, I also got all my peppers and tomatoes out in the garden. Yay!
24 tomatoes and 17 pepper plants.
I may yet regret planting that many.
I need to get the rest of the garden in tomorrow.

So don't know how much I'll get on here tomorrow either.
I need to head to bed.
Night!

Pretty Funky

OK
So, I changed my Facebook to English pirate language.
Just for fun.

Got it in a status to change it and I like it.
I like it a lot.
So, I'm keepin' it for a while.
Arrrrr!

Maybe it's cause I didn't get enough sleep.
I don't know.
But, I do find it very amusing.

To do this go to bottom of the page and click where it says your language. Than go find English pirate and click.
Fun stuff!!

Whew!

I have some banana bread in the oven.
So, since I am up for a while, I might as well be on here.

I am in a baking mood tonight.
Earlier I made some chocolate cupcakes w/ chocolate frosting and now I am doing banana bread.
I will have to get those on my yummy stuff blog soon.

I looked and I haven't put anything on there in 5 days. I am seriously behind on all my stuff.

But, things get so busy this time of year.

But, I made a goal for myself and I pretty much screwed the pooch.
I can do better.
I will do better.

But, anyway I had fun at Lazerfest. Except for the cold, rainy weather.
I saw my cousin there who I have not seen in years.

I was able to put some plants in the garden. About time.

Ooooh, oooh!
Can't forget.
Gwen has Tae Kwon Do test Sunday.
She tests for her temporary black belt.
This is very cool.
We are letting people know.
It is a given this time. The instructor signed off on it.
Yaaaayyyyyy!
Go Gwen!

So Long Ronnie

Ronnie James Dio died Sunday morning at 7:45. The date- May 16, 2010.
He was 67.

He had stomach cancer.
He put up a good, long fight.

For anyone that doesn't know Ronnie James Dio is a legend in the heavy metal world.
He replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath.
He was in a band named Elf.
He was in the band Rainbow.

He was the one that made the "devil's horn" hand gesture popular.

What I find extremely sad is that I have seen very little mention about his death anywhere.
I know that the news pick and choose who is worthy of mention.

But, for God sakes, Brett Michaels was mentioned everywhere. He never died and his talents are almost non-existent when compared to Mr. Dio.

I am not surprised, but it always makes me sad that one persons health and death always will seem more important than another's.

Believe me, I am more saddened by this than by Anna Nicole Smith or Michael Jackson.

Wherever You Go, There You Are

Sounds pretty profound, doesn't it?
Good old Buckaroo Bonzai.
Strange movie. Good line.

Cause it is very very true.

You can run away as far as you can and you are still gonna be with you.
You can drink until you don't know my name.
You can get as high as as kite.
You can move.

But, the problems and thoughts are still gonna be there when daylight rears it's ugly head.

Sometimes, though.............

Don't ya wish everything could just disappear for a while?

No bills for a month and you don't owe them or late fees. Nothing.

No doctor visits of any kind.

No sass from the teenager.

No PMS or hot flashes. Lucky me, I get both.

No husband snoring. I love sleeping with him when he is home. But, I wish his sinuses weren't always plugged.

No dirty dishes or laundry. Though I'd rather do laundry. But, I could stand to get rid of my compulsion to fold the laundry as soon as it gets out of the dryer or off the clothes line. I just can't let them sit. Even ONE hour. It drives me insane.

You know, if I kept going, my list could go on and on and on.
So, I guess I should stop.
You get the idea.

Score 1 For the Little Guy

Reward Port paid me.
I was not sure when I joined, but I did.

Yay!

I got a gift card to Amazon.com.
I love that site.

All I did was click emails.

Like mypoints.
I am happy about that.

Movie Night #2

Tonight's fine feature film was Sherlock Holmes.
The new one with Robert Downey Jr.

It was enjoyable.

I thought some of the telling what he sees and thinks before he does it was a bit odd.
If you haven't seen it, you will have to watch to probably get what I mean.
If you have seen it, I am sure you understand.
Maybe not agree, but you will know what I mean. Hopefully.

But it is a pretty good family film.

Some action, some comedy and nothing that you could really object to the kids watching.
But, that's according to me.

I also broke open my big jug of popcorn for the occasion.
Lightly buttered and salted.

Made a big bowl and we ate all of it.

Now we have 1 movie that we borrowed left to watch. 2012
We plan to watch that tomorrow.

Getting Excited

Lazerfest is coming up Sunday and I am pretty excited.

Not looking forward to the use of kybos, standing for 12 hours, possibly getting rained on, or paying for over priced bottled water.

But Lon and I are to chow down heavily before we get in the gate.
I am going to take some pain pills ahead of time. So my back doesn't kill me while we are standing so much.
I will also attempt to perfect my nose plugging skills in anticipation of entering smelly kybos.
But it should be a good time.
And there are gonna be so many people.

Bands there:
Three Days Grace
Seether
Halestorm
Godsmack
Alice Cooper
Rob Zombie
Five Finger Death Punch
Hell Yeah
Papa Roach
Skillet
plus a few local bands

Good times!

It Goes Without Saying

Why do companies and government have to tell us everything?

Yes, I do know I should not use my lawn mower on 4 foot tall hedges.
But thanks for telling me.

Why shouldn't I use an electrical appliance, like a hair dryer, while I am taking a bath.
Is that a bad thing?

Really, why would you want to use a hair dryer in a bathtub anyway?
Forget the whole electrocution thing.
The whole thing defies logic. Ask Spock, he'll tell you.
Hmmmm, I am getting clean in water, but I hate being wet so I'll just take a hair dryer in with me so as soon as I wash one body part I can dry it. Huh?

Another great one. Snickers.
On back label.
Made in a plant that manufactures peanuts.
It's Snickers.
Shouldn't you know that from the front of the candy bar that says peanuts?
But the company has to put it on there cause it's the law to tell people what is already apparent.

Strangely enough, I just checked my peanut butter jar and nowhere on it does it say anything about being processed in a plant that manufactures peanuts. I guess the Unilever corporation believes we can figure that one out all by ourselves.

Why does soap and shampoo have directions on the back? In case we forget how to clean ourselves?
I think if we need instruction on cleaning ourselves we have bigger problems than oily hair and a dirty butt.

Sure, people do need instructions on some things and heads up about possible allergens.
But some of this stuff is just so ridiculous.

Sometimes people should just be encouraged to pay attention and use their brains.

Next thing you know there will be instructions on the toilet paper.
Tear off a few sheets for urination, take a few more if ya pooped.
Fold over.
Wipe your soiled area.
Repeat if necessary.
Throw dirty paper in toilet.
Flush.

I See Dead People

The California psychics are at it again.

They went away for several years and they are now back at it again.
Maybe they just never totally went away, but they are advertising their services again.

I mean, far be it for me to say whether or not they are scamming people.
But, come on!! How can you give a psychic reading to someone over the phone that you have talked to just a couple minutes?
Well, they do try to drag it all out. After all people are paying by the minute for a reading of their future.

How can psychics see an aura or the dead person standing next to you if you are at the other end of a phone line?

I think now that they have to put a disclaimer out there that it is just for entertainment purposes.
But, I don't many people pay a lot of attention to that being said or written in fine print at the bottom.
It should go without saying.
But, so many things should.

Just Another Day in Paradise

We have moved. We now live in a BOG.
Pretty nice, but it is a bit squishy when you walk on the grass.

We had movie night tonight.
Fixed some chicken enchilada dip and we ate that with chips while we watched Avatar.

Avatar was about like I figured. Watchable, but NOT as great as everybody tried to make it out to be. I thought it was a bit long.
I also think that James Cameron took a bunch of different movies, wrapped them up and turned it into his own movie. Dances With Wolves, Matrix, The big bad Iron Man dude that Iron Man defeated, Eragon, and you can probably come up with more of your own.

But, we got that watched and Kiddo is in bed.
Honeyman into the "humongous" town of Monroe to see some friends.

So, it's me. All alone.

I am needing to get some work done online.
I have been doing some internet neglect lately.
But am just not feeling it.

When The Thunder Rolls

You guessed it.

It's raining.
AGAIN!

I am getting tired of all of it.

Plus, i have had to turn my furnace back on.
Heat on in May.
That's just sad.

Now, there is even a slight chance of rain on Sunday.
Sunday is Lazerfest. It's a rock concert festival.
Why?

I have plants that I bought that need to go into the ground.
I may be sticking them in the ground while it's muddy.
That's gonna be a major mess.

Just a good time all the way around.

Jedi Squirrel Siting

He has been spotted at our place the last couple of days.

Yesterday he was staring in the window at me again.

Laughter is Truly the Best Medicine

Oh my, I will really laugh at just about anything.

And I can make people laugh at things they never thought they would.

I laugh at the news.

When I read the news online, my favorite part is reading the comments about the story.
Some of that shit is just HILARIOUS.
If you have never done this I highly recommend it.

When I was a kid, I didn't laugh much at all.
There was just so much I was told not to laugh about.

People falling down. Come on! Kids find it funny. Many adults do too.

Bodily noises. What kid doesn't love potty humor? So do men. Who do you think came up with "pull my finger"?

People saying something about anyone. Which NO ONE should laugh at, of course. Even if what they just did or said was so unbelievably retarded.

My grandma. Who by the way said some pretty funny stuff and my cousin laughed at her and it was OK.

So, I was pretty much messed up and had a depressing childhood.

As, I have gotten older, I have realized it's OK to laugh at all of those things. It is human nature and if you can't laugh and enjoy your life what have you got.

I subscribe to the George Carlin philosophy of humor. You can laugh at anything, it is all in the delivery.
To me, a joke is a joke.
Take it for what it is.

I even know how to laugh at myself.

Do you know one day I had on a sweatshirt on backwards for most of the day and never noticed?
Shows you how much I look in the mirror.
Anyway, no one noticed it either.
I went in the bathroom and washed my hands and just noticed.
Good Lord.
I laughed so hard that I did that and just walked around and I didn't realize and no one else realized.
It's not like it was a plain colored sweater.
I guess I should have felt stupid. After all, I am 38. I should know how to dress myself.
I should have been depressed that nobody noticed and told me.
But, I didn't.

Ya just gotta laugh.

Velveeta Cheese Pizza

Do you have any bizarre memories featuring food?

I do.

Velveeta Cheese Pizza.

I don't remember how old I was.
My oldest sister was on a canoe camping trip and my dad was working over the road.
So, it was just my other sister and my mom.

My sister and I wanted to make a pizza.
Never did it before.

Mom finally OKed it.
But would not buy mozzarella cheese.
Cause cheese is cheese. And what's the difference?

But, we had Velveeta cheese food at home.
So we used that.

I remember it plain as day.

Had the pizza crust, the sauce, and hamburger.
And for cheese we had Velveeta.

And we hated it.
It was nasty.
It didn't taste like pizza was supposed to.

Mom got mad.
She went to all that trouble and we didn't like it.

Now, my sister and I have a good laugh about the Velveeta Cheese Pizza that was the worst damn pizza we ever tasted.

You just don't make pizza with Velveeta.

Oh, the memories!

Breakfast is Ready!

Yes, I know what time it is.
But, I made breakfast.

Made some muffins for morning.
Now, I am letting them cool and than I go night-night.

But I also made breakfast for supper.

I love those kinds of nights.

I love breakfast food, but hate having to get up extra early to make it for the morning meal.

So I make things like pancakes for supper sometimes.

Tonight, I made potatoes O'Brien and sausage gravy with biscuits.
YUMMY!

I remember when I was a kid and we'd stay late down at Grandma's she'd make pancakes for supper.
Pretty much every time we stayed for supper.
And she made her own syrup.
It was brown sugar, white sugar, and water.
And it was yummy.

One time I wanted Mom to make it.
So she called down and asked how to make it.
Mom made it, but it just wasn't the same.
Strangely enough the pure maple syrup I buy now kind of reminds me of her syrup.
Weird, huh?

ciao!

Too Many!

OK, we have outdoor cats.
A lot of outdoor cats.
Not as many as we used to.
But, still enough.

We want no more.
So we finally got all the females fixed.
Except for one. She kept leaving and her last litter she had elsewhere.
The vet was seeing some major dollar signs in his eyes.

So, we spent a good chunk of change on making sure we have no more mouths to feed.

Now, what happens?

Yeah.
The one we didn't fix decided to move back her in all her pregnant kitty glory.

We still thought, OK, last time she left to have her kittens.
She is not a people kitty so she hides from us all the time.

She was gone for a few days so we just thought she left to have her kittens.
Had her kittens, yes.
Somewhere else, no.

She went out and had them under the trees where we have a big piece of metal.
Had three of them.

Yay!

Kittens are so cute, but we so did not want more.

All the other litters were hard enough to try and give away.

But, now the plan is to let her go until the kittens are about 6 weeks and ready for weaning and than take her to get fixed.

Gwen is gonna be excited. That kid loves cats and kittens sssooooo much.
She'll give them all names.
Cause they all need names.

Over the years we have had so many kittens and she names them all.
And remembers their names.

Once we had 3 sisters, all black. To Lon and I they were the black ones cause we couldn't tell them apart after they got older.
Gwen always could tell.

The best laid plans.

See ya!

Okily Dokily!

So, it's raining.
AGAIN

But we didn't get a frost.
Yay!

I should be cleaning my house,
BUT....

You guessed it. I'm not.

How could I be? I'm writing this.
I'm not Samantha Stevens( you know from Bewitched)
But wouldn't be cool to be ?
Just wiggle- or is it wriggle?- your nose and just do WHATEVER with no effort. Course, I'd probably be as big as a cow cause I'd never get off my ass to do anything.
Do you know, I used to try wiggling or wriggling -or whatever the hell it is- my nose and I never could do it.
Back than, Samantha and Tabitha actually used to have to do it with no computer help. I wonder how they did it. When I try, my mouth moves and I look all weird.

Course some people wiggle their ears and I can't figure that out either.

As you may have guessed, I am feeling very random today. My thoughts are just zooming every which a way.

Of course, what I'd really like to do is go nappin'.
Alas, it's too late for siesta alert.
That ship has sailed. Unfortunately.

It is time now for me to look ahead to the dinner time hour. I have a couple yet to decide.
To cold to grill. And much too windy. So that is out.
Plus, the rain. UGH!
It'll be great, once I figure it out.

Well, I guess it's

See Ya !

I Grieve- by Peter Gabriel

This is the song I have to listen to when I lose someone I love. When, you read the words isn't it just how you feel?

It is for me. I love this song.

It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
There's nothing yet has really sunk in
Looks like it always did
This flesh and bone
It's just the way that you would tied in
Now there's no-one home

I grieve for you
You leave me
'so hard to move on
Still loving what's gone
They say life carries on
Carries on and on and on and on

The news that truly shocks is the empty empty page
While the final rattle rocks it's empty empty cage
And i can't handle this

I grieve for you
You leave me
Let it out and move on
Missing what's gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on

Life carries on
In the people i meet
In everyone that's out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

It's just the car that we ride in
A home we reside in
The face that we hide in
The way we are tied in
And life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

Did I dream this belief?
Or did i believe this dream?
Now i can find relief
I grieve

Up All Night

Sleep all day!

That is me right now.

Or going to be in about 8 hours.
If I make it that long.

Tired but not sure I can sleep, so I haven't even tried yet.

I do have to be up at 6 to get my girl up for school.
So, IF I were smart I'd go to bed.

But, whadaya do?

You can't always do the smart thing. The sensible thing. The thing that deep down you know your mom would do.

But, I am so not my mom( Thank you God!)
SO......
Bring on the night.

I love my mom, I really do. After all she did give me life.
But, we are pretty much polar opposites.
She's kind of a fuddy, duddy. A stick in the mud.
And I'm, well, not.

But, back to the subject at hand.

I have never been much of a morning person.
Even back in the day when I was a high schooler and had to get up for school, I'd get up at 10 minutes to 8:00 when I had to be at school at 8:25.

But, I always liked staying up really late.
I might get sleepy, but around 10:00 pm if I am not in bed, I catch a second wind.
Than, I am good to go for another few hours.

Than, I usually sleep a few hours, get up and than take a morning nap( siesta alert) when Honeyman gets home.
He tells me it isn't too healthy, but I just have trouble getting to sleep very early.

Just Call Me Wacky!

Is it totally weird that I can watch all kinds of blood and guts? I mean people getting hacked up. Not my favorite thing to watch, but it doesn't really bother me.

And yet, I hate watching people vomit on screen. I don't even care if it's a cartoon or real people. I know it is fake.
But it just makes me feel sick.
Seriously sick.

For years I couldn't even watch "Caddyshack" due to the vomit scene. And the guy sitting in it.
Oh My God!
I actually feel a bit nauseous writing that.

So, after 20 years, I can watch the movie. But, that part of the movie is one to be avoided.
I make sure I have to go to the bathroom at that exact scene.
Every time!

I really don't get why people laugh at it.

Sick humor.

I laugh at some strange and awful things.
But vomit?

Now that is just really sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good day All

Happy
Mother's
Day!
This is my present from my beautiful Gwen-Gwen. It was a beautiful surprise.
This is my bouquet of roses I got from my honeyman. Didn't I tell you I'd get flowers?

Hope you all have a great day!

It's Almost Here!!!!

Yep, that's it.
Mother's Day!

And I know what I am getting.

Flowers from Honeyman.
I get them every year.

From Kiddo, I have no idea if I will be getting anything.
When she was in elementary, she always made me something and the school reminded the kids. Now, I don't know if she'll remember or not.

I'll be giving my mother a call, but I doubt I'll get a happy mother's day in return from her. I'm not her mother, you see. So, she doesn't need to tell me.

Funny, how I hear it from tons of other people, but never my own mother.

But, anyway.....

I am sounding slightly on the pathetic side so I am going to say no more about this topic.

Hello, Out There! Or is it in there?

Whichever.

What am I doing on a Saturday night?

I'm just hanging out trying to get things done online.

I also want to eat something.
Don't you just hate that? Wanting to eat when you are not hungry and you don't even know what you want.
You just want to eat.

And I am feeling my nerves getting wound up.
Like something is going on or is going to happen. But I can't put my finger on it.
That is probably why I feel like eating.
To quiet the nerves.

Do you ever get that feeling?
It is quite unsettling.

What is odd is that it always ends up being SOMETHING, but I never can pinpoint it.
I do get feelings when, I do go to do something. It tells me it's probably a bad idea and I have learned to listen to that instinct.
This is the same kind of feeling, but I can't tell what the source is. It's just too murky.

Maybe I need to develop my ESP skills. Do they still call it that? Whatever it is, I do get a sense inside when something is up.

No Free Rides, Sonny Boy!

Do you ever HATE payday?

Just because you know it means you have to balance your checkbook.

Maybe it is just me.

I don't know how I manage it, but I screw up my checkbook soooo much.
I will be off on the balance and I can't find the mistake anywhere.
In a few months the missing amount seems to show back up.

If I didn't know better, I'd say there is an embezzler at my bank.

I have mentioned it before to the bank. And they will graciously allow me to drop my registrar over there and leave it so they can go over it when they get to it.
Or I can make an appointment and pay for them to go over it with me.
I don't really trust just leaving my registrar over there.
Who knows when I will get it back?
And I always feel that banks will find in their favor no matter what.
Especially if I am not there to see what is going on.
But, I don't see why I should have to pay for them to do it either.
They are making money off me anyway.
Why should I have to pay them for a problem that could be of their making.
Ugh!

Another reason I hate payday is seeing what little I have left after paying all the bills.
In fact, I hate paying the bills.
I would just like 1 month with a free pass. No bills to pay and I wouldn't have to make up the payments.

That is the best part of childhood. No bills to pay.
But, than you also had to listen to your parents.

No free rides!
Always a trade off somewhere.

Saturday Nights Alright

Weekends just don't mean much to me anymore.

Back many, many moons ago when I was single I didn't care too much about weekends.
I went out no matter what.

Than as I got older and met and married my Honeyman, I once again had a traditional weekend.
Everyone else was growing up and working and the only time to get together was the weekend.

Now, Honeyman works weekends and Kiddo has weekends off from school.
So, I get woken up every day so I see nothing so great about a weekend.

We never get to go on dates during the week when he is off cause Kiddo has school.
So we want a night out, he has to take the night off.

Everyone I know seems to talk about how great Friday is here( yay!) and Monday is here(boo!).
I don't like Fridays so much. It is the end of Honeyman's weekend.
Mondays are not so bad. It is his Thursday.

But, many Saturday nights, Kiddo and I have a movie night. After Honeyman leaves we get some snacks and drinks, pop a movie in and just do the mom/daughter thing.
She used to like sleeping with me, but she hits and kicks in her sleep and I am not overly partial to pain. So she has to go to her own bed. It is safer that way.

Chow!

I Know This Much!!

Two things I know!

It is not supposed to be this freakin' cold this time of year. It is going to get close to freezing tonight and it is extremely blowy.
Ya like that word? Blowy?
I have a friend that calls extremely windy days blowy. And that pretty much describes the weather right now.
Cold and blowy.
I LIKE IT! I LIKE IT A LOT!

The other thing I know?

I need to buy a second set of nice sheets.
If I had that right now, I wouldn't have a clue how cold it was getting cause I'd be all cozy, curled up under my blankets and SHEETS instead of being UP waiting for my one set to dry so I could make the bed so I could go to sleep.
Since Honeyman sleeps days, I can't wash them during the day. Or in the evenings cause sometimes he naps.
So, I do them after he goes to work.
Yay me!

By the way- what is this new trending thing Yahoo and msn are putting on their front pages?
And WHY is Chaz Bono trending?
Am I missing something?
He/she is gay and was a girl named Chastity and now is a guy named Chaz- I get it. I knew that a long time ago and I didn't really care at that time and not understanding why I should care now.
Are there new developments? Anatomically speaking, maybe. But, that really isn't what I meant.

Oh, it doesn't matter.
I never was trendy so me caring about what is TRENDING doesn't make much sense now does it?

Peace Out!
(just trying out sign offs to see what is good for me)

Do You Ever Wonder?

What the hell is with some of the labels on food products?

I bought a big ass jug of popcorn at Costco the other day and it says 100% whole grain. For God sakes. It's popcorn. Corn (grain) that pops.
How stupid do they think we are?
Or how stupid are we that they think they need to tell us stuff like that?

Another one is fat free jello. Duh!
Isn't that a no brainer?
It is flavored, powdered gelatin.
They never used to tell you, you just knew.
All of a sudden they have to tell you.

Don't forget about the back of the Snickers label.
Manufactured in a plant that processes nuts.
Hello!
Peanuts are in Snickers. Or almonds, which are nuts.

So, as Chris Matthews says, "Tell me something I don't know."

Now, on the other handle labels can be misleading, yet truthful. Just because your bottle of juice says 100% juice doesn't mean 100% of 1 kind of juice.
Some kinds are blends.
In big it might say cherry juice and on the top it will say 100% juice. But it won't be 100% cherry juice. They might mix in some grape or apple along with the cherry juice.

Just Hangin' Out

Listening to some Lacuna Coil.

Have you ever heard them? If you like rock, give them a shot. The female lead has an amazing voice.

I love music.

It pretty much helps me keep my sanity.

It always has.
Even when I was a teen, it was there for me.
I'd get so mad or depressed and I'd go in my room, close the door, turn out the lights, and turn up the tunes as loud as I could.
Loud enough to block out all thought.

After all these years, music is the one thing that can truly speak to me.
I can always find a style to fit my mood and what I am doing.

Certain songs have to be played at certain times.
When someone I really care about dies, I always break out "I Grieve" by Peter Gabriel. That song says, to me, more than any other exactly how it feels to lose someone I love.
On my anniversary "Built to Last" by Tom Petty comes out. Honeyman and I are BIG Petty fans so it is apt.
"Hump de Bump" is the groovin' tune by the Chili Peppers.

So many songs, so little time.

Relax! Don't Do It!

Is there such a thing as down time anymore?

Life just goes and goes and it seems like there is no pause button.

I am big on having down time.

I guess that is why I don't have a cell phone. Well, that and I'd rather keep my money for other things.

I don't want people to be able to get a hold of me whenever and wherever. We used to have them and Honeyman had his turned off most of the time. I never did that, but it is your phone so you should be in control of when you talk to people.
I don't miss mine much.
I do when running late or having car trouble. No body has pay phones anymore.

I hate the little ticker that goes across the bottom of news shows and various other programs. I just can't keep track of what they are saying and read breaking news at the same time.

So much information is thrown at us constantly and it is just too much for me to process.

I don't know how some people just go and go and go.

I guess I don't really have a point, just having a ramble for the hell of it.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I have been pretty busy the last two days.

But, I got all my plants for the garden and some of my corn planted. Yay!

But went to the big metropolis of Des Moines today and AGAIN I forgot my camera.
Sometimes I truly believe that I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached.

But, I did remember my grape juice at Costco. Oooohhh yeeeaaahhhh!
So, that has gotta be something to feel good about, right?
I love grape juice!
When I was a kid, my parents grew grapes and my mom canned her own grape juice.
Just like Welch's. Only in quart jars.

Don't you love my retro wood paneling walls?
I don't.
Can't wait til I can tear 'em out.
Be the highlight of my remodel.

I am hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.
I am certainly tired enough.
Honeyman wants me to take a sleeping pill to make sure I do sleep. But that ain't how I roll.
Eventually I will sleep.

Later Dude!

Here I Am. Once Again!

Man, it is 20 after 2 in the AM and I am up.

This TOTALLY sucks.

I woke up just after midnight and cannot get back to sleep.
This does not bode well for my plans for daytime/daylight hours.

But, my cat Lacey, seems very happy to see me. Doin' her little boot scootin' thing on the floor.
I need to get a pic of that so ya know what I'm talkin' about. But, she lays on her side and scoots when she wants love.
Honeyman is off tonight so I am sure he's happy cause he gets to roll all over the bed and no me to get in his way. He just doesn't realize it.

Not sure what I am going to do.
Should I make breakfast for everyone? Maybe it's too early to start that though.
Should I clean? Do laundry?
TV is mostly infomercials so that is pretty much a no brainer. Sucks when you pay a boatload of money for satellite TV and lots of times nothin' on.
But, being in the country, one of the channels by antennae doesn't come in worth a crap and we only have 3 other stations to choose from.
I am not too big on watching TV over the computer. I like sittin' in my comfy chair for TV watchin'.

I am not much in the chatting mood, so my chats are all off. But there is never too many people on this time of night anyway.
People I know, anyway. That use chat on any site.

Well, I guess it's time for me to gather my thoughts, such as they are, and try an accomplish some offline types of tasks.

Later Gator

Wish I had my camera

I never remember my camera when I need one.

No, I don't have a cell phone with a camera. Why? Cause I don't have a cell phone. I am ONE of those people.

But, I usually take my digital camera with me. Just in case of a car accident and I need pics for insurance or something.
Hey! You never know!

But the last two times I went out of town, I didn't have it with me and I so wish I did.

Last week went to Knoxville to get groceries. Knoxville is another small town in Iowa, but it is big enough for a Hy-Vee and Fareway grocery store. And a Walmart.
Monroe just has a small grocery store with high prices so we go else for groceries and practically every thing we buy.

But, anyway we went past a Legion Hall and they had a big sign on the highway announcing their breakfast special- Shit on a shingle.
Can you believe that right by the road?
Amazing to me and Honeyman.
Can you imagine little kids asking Mom and Dad what shit on a shingle is?

And today we went to buy veggie plants for the garden.
Some one was hauling mattresses in a boat.
I guess they didn't have a trailer or truck so they hitched a boat to the back of their car so they could move mattresses.
Funny sight to see.

I am really going to have to start taking my camera with me.

So, Where Were We?

Oh yeah.

So, I went and took my nap. Not long enough.

Today has just been one of those days when I could sleep forever.

But since I have a house to take care of and people to feed, that is just NEVER gonna happen.

I did make coleslaw and some brownies. Both recipes are on my Yummy Stuff blog.

I did watch Lost with the fam.
Man, are you not ready for that to be over or not? I so want to know how it ends.
Though, I would have given up on that show long ago if it wasn't for Honeyman and Kiddo.
And I just have this really bad feeling by the time all is said and done I am going to wonder why I bothered. I told Honeyman that it better end good or I am gonna be pissed.
It is probably going to end bad.
They kill people that I like and keep people I don't.
I don't like the whole alternative reality thing they got goin' on.
And remember how it used to take like a year and a half to walk across half the island and now it is taking like 5 minutes.
What is up with that?
I wish they could have left Desmond alone. He was happy and with Penny and now he's back.

I wonder if Criminal Minds is new this week. I love that show!

The Best Part of Waking Up

With me, it certainly ain't with Folgers in your cup.

Some days, and this is one of them, I wish I drank coffee.

Had to drag myself out of bed this morning.

I definitely am not a morning person.

I don't even keep pop in the house.

Caffeine makes me very moody so I don't drink much of it.
Mornings like this I wish it wasn't so.

I am thinking that today is gonna be a nap day.
Naps are my friend.
To think kids don't like them.
I love them!

In fact I think siestas should become part of our culture. Arriba! Arriba!
OK, I am channeling that little Mexican cartoon mouse. Speedy Gonzales- that's who it is!

Google is great. Google is my friend!

Be back later. I think I hear my bed calling my name!

We Come in Peace

Have you ever seen the movie Mars Attacks?

I love that movie.

The point is that when I see our world today I think we are just like that movie.

There is the world governments that seem pretty, well STUPID, and most of the people are just going along with everything.

I feel that is pretty much how things are going in life right now.

Monday, May 3, 2010

People are People

Sometimes I can't help but wonder why there is such hate and animosity in the world.

Why can't we all just get along?

So many people just can't even agree to disagree on things.

Yeah, I think one way and you think another but that doesn't mean either one of us is a bad person.

The list gets longer about things I don't even want to talk about with people.
Religion
Abortion
Foreign policy - too many areas of that to list
Domestic policy- again too many areas to list
Liberal or Conservative- I am neither, I am a person. Don't label me!
ETC, ETC, ETC

No one wants to do anything but say they are right and you are wrong and throwing insults along the way.
I find that very depressing.
In this land of so called free speech, we get berated by other people when we try to exercise that right.

It just seems like there can be no middle ground.

I just think all of it is really getting out of hand.

Things That Should Never Have Been Invented

Stretch denim.

I know, I know. You read and see on tv about how jeans with stretch denim are so sexy cause they hug your curves.

But, guess what? They stretch!
They aren't super stretchy like polyester pants. But they have enough, believe me.
You can gain 20 pounds and they stretch to fit.
You lose 20 pounds and they cling to you so your pants don't feel any looser.

You don't realize the pounds are creeping up on you like a bad rash.

And when you lose the weight, you can't even feel good that your pants are loose.

And stretch denim is in. It's everywhere!

I have to go on a major quest to find a pair of jeans that aren't stretchy.

Let's hear it for plain old fashioned denim.

My Jedi Squirrel

This is my jedi squirrel.

Can't you see he is just willing me to bring him a new ear of corn.

I would have, I really would. But I had none to give.

His powers, however, were not strong enough to get me to go buy a little bag for $4.

Here's a Quarter. Call Somebody that Cares.

Does anybody say that anymore?

Would anybody under the age of 30 even get it if was said to them?

I wonder if when calls were only a dime if they said dime instead of quarter.

But when the call went up to 35 cents nobody said 35 cents, it was still a quarter.

But, I guess that just wouldn't sound cool. Would it?

Anyway, in case anyone does care my clock works. Yay!

The connection wasn't right, but Honeyman got it to be.

It's a hoot!

So, I have the news on.

Not sure why. I never seem to learn much of anything. Except that the weatherman was wrong. AGAIN!

We got rain. It was not supposed to rain until Thursday. WTH? I have garden to get planted.
That is not gonna happen when I can't even walk out there.

I am big on having a garden.

The first thing I had to have when we moved to a house with a huge ass yard was a garden.

And last year we made it even bigger.

I have some stuff. But, I still need to get corn and tomatoes and my beloved peppers in.

I am a pepper junkie!

I love trying new types of peppers all the time.

Even when I don't need to, I love just going out to my garden and being one with nature.
Ok that was my hippie reference for the day.

All By Myself!

Well, it is now after 1pm here and me and the cat are the only ones up.

I'm going to have to think about dragging the kiddo out of bed soon.

Honeyman didn't get in bed til 8:30 this morning so he still should be sleeping.
He works nights. Yeah. Fun!

Good lord she went to bed at 11:00 last night.

Is this normal for a teen?

I don't know. Never had one before.

I know I never slept til afternoon except for when I was sick. Even than, I was awake off and on.

Maybe I should at least go see if she is breathing.

A little bit about me

Where do I start?

I do have an about me on my profile, but I do need to expand on it.

But here is some more about me.

I question anything and everything. Yes, I read my insurance policies and the fine print on the back of credit card offers.
Knowledge is power!

I laugh at pretty much anything. I have been know to laugh at the news and at lyrics in certain songs. Many people would think me awful for some of the stuff I find funny, but that's how it goes.

I am a lover of rock music. Some dance is OK. Old school rap is too. But the newer hip-hop is not my cup of tea and neither is country.

I am moody and can be pretty unpredictable.

I love speaking in movie quotes. It is just fun!

Lastly, I do my best to have fun in my life.
In the immortal words of Aerosmith, Life's a journey- not a destination.

Against the law!

OK.
It totally should be against the law for batteries to explode in things.

My clock tower, which I have had for probably 13 years, quit running.

I went to change the battery and there is white crud all over the inside of it.

I tried cleaning it, but I think it is totally done for.

Arrrrgggggg!

Here we go!

The first post on my new blog!

I have so many thoughts running through my head and I just thought- why not write them down.

Sometimes they will make me think, maybe even laugh.

You may agree, you may not.

But, that's OK.

This is my life and I am the one that has to agree with me.
