Ten Things Tuesday- All About Love

So, yesterday I celebrated 14 years of marriage to my best friend.
It hasn't all been bliss.
We have had our share of bad times.

But, the good far outweigh the bad.

The way the "experts" talk, we never should have made it this far.
We did everything all out of whack.

With us,
First came pregnancy. Like within a month.
Next was moving in together
followed by baby being born.
We got married when she was almost a year old.

We didn't know each other as well as we probably should have, but we thought we knew enough.
And it has worked.
For the most part.

In honor of my wedding anniversary, this weeks Ten Things Tuesday is about why I love and appreciate my Honeyman.

1. Flowers
Every Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, anniversary, and birthday I get flowers. Without fail.

2. Appreciation for what I do
He always thanks me for me cooking a good meal and taking care of the house. I know it is my job, being a homemaker and all. But appreciation is nice.

3. Hugs
Hugs are my favorite thing in the world and he gives me plenty.

4. He doesn't care how much money I spend
I could break the bank and he wouldn't care as long as it made me happy. Not that I would. I kinda like having a roof over my head.

5. He works hard for us.
He stays in a very stressful job, working overnights to give us a good life. You can't find too many places with better health benefits.

6. Laughter
He makes me laugh. We laugh a lot. I couldn't imagine going though life without a laugh at some point during every day.

7. Comfort
When I feel bad or just depressed or maybe really stupid for something I did he is there and he makes me feel OK about everything just by caring.

8. Music
We share a great love of music and have very similar musical tastes.Tom Petty is one of our favorites.

9. Movie Quotes
There are some movies that we know so much and we will throw out a quote just whenever the occasion seem to fit. It is just one of our little things. Maybe to some it is odd. But, it's fun.

10. Knowing what each other is thinking.
Something will come up in conversation with other people or just watching the news. We can look at each other and just know what's going on up there.

Does he drive me nuts? Yes, sometimes.
Do I drive him nuts? Without a doubt.

But, that's just part of marriage.

Celebrate Good Times!

So, yesterday was my anniversary.
The big 1 - 3.

So the hubby and I went out for dinner.

We didn't do a lot do to it being a school day today and having to get up BEFORE dawn.

But, we had fun.

It is all about being together, not all about what you do.

I got my flowers in the morning.

We went to a different place this year.
Usually it's the Waterfront Seafood Restaurant.

But, we went somewhere new this year.
We went to Old Chicago.

It was great.

We had these buffalo chicken pizza roll appetizers.
I had them use ranch instead of bleu cheese dressing.
Cause Bleu Cheese-EWWWW!
It was yummy.

For dinner we each had these monster calzones.

The waitress brought us a HUGE cookie for free since it was our anniversary.
How sweet!
Can you say good tip comin' your way?

Than we each had a drink.

We don't do that too often.

But the Old Chicago has like a million types of beer.
OK, 110 but who is counting?

And I tried a chocolatini.
I had never heard of a chocolatini.
But, it was scrumdiliumptious.

The honeyman had a Sea Dog Blueberry Wheat Ale.
That was pretty tasty too.

All in all it was a great night.

Just What Kind Of Hook Up Is This?

I gotta tell ya.

I am a bit confused by what anniversaries and engagements mean to some people.

To mean, an anniversary is when a couple celebrates the anniversary of their wedding.
And an engagement is something that means a marriage is coming. EVENTUALLY.

First off, the anniversary.

I know all these people that aren't married celebrating their anniversaries.
This confuses me.

Some people celebrate the day they met.
Some celebrate their first date.
Some, the day they moved in together.

I am sure there are as many reasons as people.

But, when people that aren't married say it is their anniversary I never know what that quite means.

And I have to say, I can't even tell you the date my husband and I met or started dating or even moved in together.
Maybe I am the odd ball and women are supposed to know these things.
I just never thought it mattered so I never checked the calendar.

And what about people that say that they are engaged, but have been that way for years.
They say it doesn't matter.

OK.

Fair enough.

But, why are they saying they are engaged but not getting married?

They can just be a couple content with things and not giving a crap what people think?
I guess I just don't see the point.
They obviously don't care too much about getting married or they would have done it.
And if they don't care about being married, why bother being engaged for 5+ years.

Just sayin'.
