Me and My X-Ray

Who hasn't had an x-ray at some point in their life?
Even if it's just dental.

I think the worst x-ray was the one of my head.

That was pretty painful.

I was having the worst headache in my life and after weeks it just would not go away.

So, off to the doctor I go and the doctor was thinking maybe I had some sort of major sinus infection.

Which, looking back on it now, I am wondering if they just told me that.

They didn't try antibiotics right off
AND
they didn't seem to see anything infectiony looking in my ears or nose.

They did a flu test.
Which by the way, SUCKS total ass.

Whose idea was it to make a foot long q-tip and stuff it up the nose.
Ugh.

Maybe they've made improvements?
One would hope.

But, anyway, they decide to get my sinus cavities x-rayed.

I wonder now if maybe they were thinking tumor and just didn't want to scare me.

I had to go to the hospital for the x-rays and I had to sit up against the glass so they could take pictures.
Head up, head down.
Eyeballs  pressed to the glass.

My head was already killing me.
Let's just make it worse.

Nothing turned up.
No tumor, no sinus infection.

Than they took blood and no infection and so rather than go with an MRI they figured I had mono.
In my 30's and I had mono.
Lovely!

So, I got to keep my headache that nothing would help for another 2 months.

I will have forget that X-Ray.

  1. I'm not a big fan of x-rays - but have had my share in the years gone by.

Hope your head feels better and you mono has passed.

    Cheers, Jenny

  2. I don't like x-rays either. The last one I had when I was in the hospital for the flu was bad. I puked on the poor x-ray tech. I felt bad for him.

  3. What an unhappy experience. Mono? You've got to be kidding. I wonder if the diagnoses would be different if they would have done the MRI.

I don't have much experience with X-Rays but am thankful that the ones that I may have had when I was younger were not as bad as other people's experiences.

  4. I went most of my life without x-rays, except the little mouth ones they do at the dentist. Now I've had three sets of x-rays and an MRI within four weeks (tore my ACL and hairline bone fractures). not my favorite, but it's okay.

  5. I totally feel you, I suffer from headaches too, and obviously my doctor doesn't know why, so I just have 'allergies'. Whatever. All I know is that when I get them nothing makes them pass. Yay for us.....

  6. Jenny, I still get those headaches sometimes. They last for days or weeks.
So, I either get mono repeatedly- cause this was several years ago- or they were just wrong.

OT, Yeah, poor tech. He knew you didn't mean it though.

Nicole, apparently mono is getting more prevalent among people in their 30's or so they told me.

Sheila, Ouch. I've had a hairline fracture on my ankle and that was bad. Hope you heal up OK.

Alex, I know. Honeyman gets the migraines so he gets pills for those. Mine are just bad headaches that won't go away. I never knew anyone else that had them like that. Yes, yay us.
