Play Me Some Ukulele!

The ukulele is a small four- stringed Hawaiian guitar.

I always think it looks like a cross between a guitar and a violin.

Tiny Tim made the ukulele famous.

Not really sure how Tiny Tim got famous. I always thought he sang badly and had really stringy, greasy hair.

The ukulele comes in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.

It ranges in length from 13"( soprano) to 10"(baritone)

Ukuleles are still made today, but their popularity goes up and down.

So, that's my U word today.

  1. Every time I see one of those things I think it is something that should be played by one of the members on Monty Python.

  2. He was on Laugh-In and he was sooooo bad. That's why I liked him, anyway. Didn't he get married to Miss (I forgot her name) on the Tonight Show?
    And now...he's dead.

  7. Karen, thanks.

Spenc, I haven't seen Goof Troop in years. I had forgotten. It does sort of roll off your tongue.

  8. I'd like to introduce you to Stephen T. McCarthy--the guy that got me started blogging in the first place. Read his post about Tiny Tim and you'll get a whole new picture of this artist. I thought Tiny was a ridiculous eccentric until I started reading up on him and listening to some YouTube Clips. He may have been pretty eccentric, but he wasn't ridiculous and he was very talented. Hope you check out the above Tiny Tim link and then maybe read some more of Stephen's stuffs when you have time. He's a really good writer.
