Really?

You know those people?
The ones that say "really" all the time.
Maybe you are one.

I truly hope not.
Cause it is "really" annoying.

After everything you say they say "Really?"
It's like they got nothin' else.

No, People, I just made it up.
I really, really felt like making up the fact that blind people are being given gun permits in Iowa.

But, if I were to answer " No, not really" in response to the "Really?" I get a very confused look.
Yes, this really has happened.

"Really?" in response to anything someone says to you is along the same vein as yes or no.
After that, the conversation just has nowhere to go.

Really, it is just dead in the water.

And I really, really, really, truly mean it.

  5. I'm laughing. When I first read this, I was thinking, man, Iowa has some weird regulations - or lack thereof. I've been saying "really" a lot these days. I'm sorry. I think it's contagious and I caught the bug. I'll try to stop.

    1. Robyn, I don't think that many people try and get it, but it does seem odd.

  6. Now I'm really glad my son doesn't live in Iowa anymore. The gun law really needs to be changed.

    1. But, Julie, denying them the right to carry is a violation of the ADA. We can't have that, now can we?
They not not help the fact that they can't see.

  7. I am a “really" person. Your post made me realize that. I use it in a sarcastic way, though.

    1. lyndagrace, sarcasm is one of life's great verbal skills. Not everyone can do it successfully and a great many do not understand it.

    1. Susie, do you still have it up? Is it on your current blog or your other one. I would like to read it if it's up.

  9. The worst is "My bad." I think it started in the 1990s. Give it a rest, people!!

    1. Susie, that phrase does not get used in my house. It tried to come in, but I halted that real quick.

    3. Mandy, I don't know what wrong with I'm sorry or my mistake. I have often wondered the same thing.

  10. That gets chalked up there with "Ya know what I mean / ya know what I'm saying?" I hear that from a co-worker 1000 times a day and I want to choke her! Seeing as she talks crazy fast and is usually talking to people whose first language is not English....the answer is probably NO !!!

    1. Lisa, haha! My husband says that to our daughter to annoy her. He will say something goofy and if he she doesn't respond he says Ya know what I mean followed by you get what I'm sayin'. Gets her every time. Drives me nuts too. That's why he does it.
