Thrown Out Like Yesterday's Newspaper

There it was.
Just lying on the side of the road.

Unmoving.
Huge and black.

I could just make the shape out as we were driving down the road.

It was a farm.
A big one that sits right by the highway.

It was just laying(lying?) there waiting to be collected.

Collected by whom, you say?

It's the Bovine Collector.
Come to collect the dead.

I couldn't quite tell from the truck.
I could see no horns
OR
testicles.

But, from the size, I can only surmise it was a bull.

I guess that's what you do.
You call the bovine collector.
Stick your cow/bull out on the curb
And wah la!
All gone!

The bovine collector comes with his big ass truck with a thing that reaches down and picks that animal up and tosses it in the back.

Well, I guess it's gotta go somewhere.
I mean, who wants to dig a hole that big to bury the thing?
And you can't leave it outside to rot or for the scavengers- well you can, but the state says that's a no-no.

  1. That's kind of sad and gross at the same time :(

  3. The bovine collector drives a big ass truck? I thought that meant he only carries donkeys or mules...?
I guess a dead cow would be ground beef.
    Or a milk dud.

    1. OK, maybe not a big ass truck. It's just what I've heard.
Honeyman did theorize that next week he'll be in a can of Alpo.

      And that's no bull.

  4. I"ve never seen the truck but there must be one around here because big old deer get hit by cars all the time and they disappear. Interesting.

  7. It would sure save everyone money if a big old truck came and got us when we dropped dead. Too much?

    1. I'd be good with that. It could be the beginning of "Soylent Green". Would I care? Nope, I'd be dead.

  9. Oh yikes, dead bull on the side of the road. A live bull would scare me but a dead one, thats just sad.

  10. A lot of farmers don't think of animals as anything more than a commodity.
