My Digital Nightmare

I have had a fun weekend and I am not done yet.

We are a music junkie household.
Just look at our CD collection.
That doesn't even include the tapes we have yet to replace with discs
OR the audio files on our hard drive.
There is some more in front but I couldn't get them all in the pic.

This is where the fun comes in.

Honeyman loves swapping music so we can get more and more stuff all the time.

And we just came into a huge amount of music.
To the tune of almost 400 GB.

Which is good.
Sort of.

Free is good, but it is a mess.

Almost all of it is crammed into ONE folder in singles.

Oh My God!

Like 80,000 songs in one folder.
There are multiples and the computer can't load them all very well and trying to weed through them all is a nightmare.

After I move so many, the thing reloads and moves songs on me and certain files get lost.
And I have to find them again or move to something else until it reappears.

It's full of crap I will never listen to.
Hanna-Barbera cartoon sounds.

It's great for a jazz or rap fan or country of which I am none.

After a few days we are done to 59,000 files.

Yes. Really.

So, if no one gets a comment from me for a while, this is why.

I hope to be done in the next few days.
Now, back to work.

  5. Heather,
Thanks. I am going to need it.

    OT,
Yes it is. 100 gb is still a lot of music.

    Sue,
Since words don't take as many bytes, I'd be a little scared to know how many e-books that may be.
Lots of books are always good though.

Alex, I am taking my break. I hope so. Oh, I really hope so.
