I'd Like to Thank

...myself, actually.

I did it people!
I got the credit card rate lowered.

It took quite a bit of bitching
but it worked.

I thought it was all over and no dice.

But, than
a phone call came from the EXECUTIVE OFFICES.

Holy crap!

Of course, they would not speak to me about rates.
The account is in Honeyman's name.

Even with his permission, they won't.
I pay all the bills and know what is going on.
He has no clue.

Now, I know you are wondering how I got so far talking to them before.
I don't know.
I guess since I had all the info. they had to speak to me.

But, whatever.
The guy told Honeyman what the rate could be lowered to.
Honeyman asked me if it would be fine.
And that was that.

Sure, would I have liked it lower yet?
Of course.
But, they lowered it to what the average person has for interest.

The second guy I talked to slipped up and told me what the average rate was.
I stuck that in my brain and used that for future reference.

All I wanted was what was fair.
I got that.

I am feeling pretty good about things.

Next thing on the list.
Lowering my god-awful high interest rate on my house.

    1. Adam, call and complain. It took chatting on their website, writing on their facebook, and talking on the phone with 3 different people before a fourth guy called to lower the rate. And you can't be nice. I have tried it before and it really gets you nowhere.

  4. We just got out house rate lowered and it was much easier this time around and we didn't have to change banks or anything. I never tried to lower my credit card rate though, good job girl!

    1. Alex, I got the paperwork emailed in last Friday about the house and I am awaiting some news. They told me no news is good news so...
I've tried lowering my card before, but just took the no they gave me. Apparently you have to be like a dog with a bone.

  5. High fives, Ruthie my girl! You done me proud!
Now I'm excited to read about the mortgage - I've got my fingers crossed!

I love feel good posts and this was just what I needed with my glass of wine - cheers to you.

  6. Jenny, right back atcha! It just burned my butter, the way they kept going on about they had to raise the rates when the economy went bad. I happened to look up their profit margin for the last two years. Cry me a river! The more they went on trying to make me feel bad for them, the more determined I was.
Are you enjoying some cheese or perhaps dark chocolate with your wine? Cause I could go for some of that. Either one.

    1. As a matter of fact... remember that recipe for Unbaked cookies... well, you'll be tickled to know that I made those and added a cup of Chipit Skor (toffee) bits - suffice it to say - I'm in candy heaven... and wheat free (hahahahaha - but sinful).

I did have some lovely cheese and pickled beans with the wine - then finished it with your treats - I call them Sweet Ruthies - I know, but you deserve to have them named after you! So there! :) :)

    2. I have not had a Skor in years. Who says wheat free means giving up the good stuff? I just made brownies and used oat flour.
Low carb is good, but we have to have treats from time to time. :)
      You are too sweet!

  7. Sounds like Honeyman and I have a lot in common. Although I hope he's not quite so befuddled as I.
I have little idea what my mortgage is, what the interest rate is (well, I know within a percentage point-I think), what my car payment is, what the electric bill is (I think it's a lot), the cable bill, or our insurance.
    Thank goodness for Mrs. Penwasser.
She also likes (I mean, really enjoys) doing our taxes. I think we got a refund this year.
    I don't know how, though.
