Almost But Not Yet

It always seems like we are waiting for something.

Are we there yet? Oh hush!

Is supper ready? Not yet.

Is there enough money? Not yet, maybe next month.

Am I ever gonna get out of debt? Not yet, maybe not ever.

Have garage sales started yet? No, it is still too cold.

Can I plant my peppers and tomatoes? No, not yet. Just wait!

Can I have some cookies? Not yet, we just ate.

Instead of wishing for what is yet to come, we should try to be content with what we do have right now.

  1. Great advice! What's that saying? Happiness is not getting what you want, it's wanting what you get. Or something like that.

    1. I didn't even think of that. Yeah. It's not about doing what you like, it's about liking what you do.

  2. I hate being asked if we're there yet. I usually just say "Yes, I'm just looking for a place to park."

    1. Matt, that's a good idea. Should have thought of that when my daughter was younger.

    1. Pat, I am happy I can pay my bills. That might depend on the kind of cookie.

    1. Thanks, Maria. I know what you mean. My daughter is 15 and it won't be too many more years and she will be gone.

  7. This is very true, but when that moment finally arrives, we're still not happy.

    1. Nellie, I have learned that it is important to be happy in the smallest moments. You never know when you are going to get them.

  8. Great advice. We spend too much time waiting for what we want that we forget what we have. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Right now, I'm happy. My first book is just published and a photographer is coming around tomorrow for the local paper. I guess I'd be mad not to appreciate what I have right now.
