As much as it pains me to admit, this happens more than it should.
I like to think of myself as somewhat computer savy.
I know my way around the internet.
Apparently, I still have some things to learn.
A big, glaring example is this whole google reader going away.
I thought I knew what the reader was.
All these blog posts about getting this so you will still see your favorite blog updates.
So, I went and got bloglovin, thinking I am going to lose my updates.
I never even used google reader.
Hell, I thought they meant my blog list on my dashboard.
There is a difference between the dashboard and the reader?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The reader was supposed to go away on July 1 and I was baffled that the blogs were still appearing in my reader.
Or, what I KNEW was my reader.
So, I investigated and found out the reader is something completely different.
Why did I even get bloglovin?
I don't know.
And come to find out, it is not even sending me everything.
I thought it was and thought it was odd that this person or that person hadn't posted AGAIN.
Once again, I looked into that and found out those blogs had lots of posts I hadn't even seen.
Oh, the stupidity!
I thought "bloglovin" was another name for internet porn.
ReplyDeleteTalk about being stupid.
Al, I never thought of that. It does sound like a good name for erotica blogs.
DeleteSpeaking of stupid...I've noticed there is nobody in my blog reader. So I have to follow everyone all over again?
DeleteWell...hell.
That's what I've heard.
Deletegoogle reader was different than your feed. I used it before never saw the point. I think bloglovin stirred the rumor for obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteAdam, I should have looked into it better.
DeleteWHat the heck? I knew nothing of this, then again, I know nothing about a lot of things. I still get my blogs in the dashboard, so am I to assume I am ok? And yes, bloglovin sounds like some porn website about porno blogs...what the hay....:)
ReplyDeleteAlex, you are good. I just got mixed up.
DeleteThe same thing almost happened to me as bloglovin kept popping up when I clicked onto my dashboard as something for me to sign up for. I printed out my blog list and decided to wait and see what happened. Of course, nothing happened as I don't use reader.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, that's pretty smart. I think I will get rid of blolovin.
DeleteThis is why I like to follow blogs via email I get the latest posts direct to my inbox.............I don't think I have used google reader but honestly I have no idea.....
ReplyDeleteJo-Anne, I get some by email, but not most. I have thought about putting an email thingy on my blog, but just never have.
DeleteI was using Google reader after moving my blog to WP. Kept everything organised for me.
ReplyDeleteI have since switched to "Feedly" which I actually like better. I never go to my Blogger dashboard anymore but I guess if I did I would get the same posts
Mynx, it dos make sense if you follow blogs from different places. The blogs from wordpress, I get in my email. I have never done that with blogger blogs though.
DeleteDon't worry - I never used Google reader either, and I signed up for Blog Lovin. I rarely use it!
ReplyDeleteSherry, I really didn't like it so much. I didn't go there, but got the daily blog list in my email and when I clicked on one to read I ended up with the bloglovin bar on the top of the post.
Deletewell you got it all over me ruth--i don't get any notices that people have written a new blog----so much to learn huh :)
ReplyDeleteLynn, I wish I hadn't heard about this.
DeleteI get it all mixed up, Ruth. But you're not stupid. Google or Bloglovin or whomever's been starting rumors is. I'm glad I didn't respond to the hysteria. But that's only because I had no clue how to.
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
Robyn, well, I did feel kinda silly and thought I was the only one.
DeleteSame exact thing happened to me but I signed up with a different reader!
ReplyDeleteGail, it's nice to know I am not alone.
