Ten Things Tuesday- Realizations from A-Z

Yes, it's late.
But, it's still Tuesday in my world so I still have time to get this in.

I wasn't sure about doing a reflections post for the A-Z blogging challenge.
Than I figured.
Hey- free idea. Awesome.

This week's Ten Things Tuesday is about realizations I came to during the April A-Z blogging challenge of 2012.

1. Lots of people like themes.
That's just too much discipline for me. I am a winger. That's what I do. If you don't like it, get off the bus.

2. I can write some funny stuff.
I am not gonna lie. I wrote a few things that made me laugh. Ok, maybe more than a few. I find myself hilarious.

3. Some people don't like my humor.
I know! Are you as amazed as I am? Some people really seemed offended by my blasphemy picture. Deep down, I had a feeling that might happen. They got off the bus.

4. I am never gonna make it through the linky list.
I still haven't gotten through. But, I did better this year than last. There is just so many and I am just one person. If you made it through that gigantic list, let me know so you can bask in my adulation of your awesomeness.

5. I hate the comment "Thanks for stopping by."
I've said it. I am sure you have too. You write it when you have nothing else. I wrote it when I got some not so flattering comments on a post. Now, I hate it. I don't want to do it anymore and I don't want to get it back from people. I'd rather have no answer. Just makes me cringe. Thanks or thank you is OK, though. I don't now why. It just is!

6. I missed my regular blogs.
I didn't get to most of the ones I normally read. I tried to get to a few. I hated missing posts.

7. I needed more sleep.
Some nights I lay awake in bed trying to think what my word was going to be for the next day.

8. That person took my word!
I was going for originality so if I saw that someone used a word before I wrote my post, I went with another word. If it was already written, I just went with it.

9. I don't know why some bloggers don't have more followers.
The writer is interesting and/or funny. I really don't get how some people have this huge following and others have almost none. Some really big bloggers aren't as fun to read.

10. Pounding my head on my keyboard will not cause ideas to pop into my head.
Nor will it write the post. It happens when you just wing it!

  1. I didn't find that picture offensive, and I am a huge Jesus freak. Sometimes I wish that a sense of humor could be purchased, then I would hand those fools some cash.

  2. It would be nice if there was a way to make sure that no one walked away with less than at least 50 followers. I also spent many nights trying to come up with ideas for given letters. I appreciate your sense of humor, and I'm glad I stopped by! So there! Julie

  3. I tried to catch as many posts of yours as I could. I am so in awe of people who took on the challenge and completed it. Well done you.
Don't think I have ever resorted to the "thanks for stopping by" response.
It is a bit of a cop out like the ever faithful "nice blog"

    1. Thank you Mynx. I still have some of your posts in my email I have to read.
      It is a cop out.

  4. Great list :) and about point 9 I also wonder why some blogs are more successful than others, but then I stopped thinking of that and decided that I write how I want to and not attract more followers. Just keep the flow :)

    1. Claudia, that is so true. I learned a long time ago that some people read without following and others follow, but never read. I try not to dwell on numbers, but when I see a good blog with few followers it makes me a little sad.

  5. Found your blog through Lynn's; glad I decided to click on your name and look at your blog. I love your top 10 about the A/Z challenge! Congrats on finishing it! I'm terribly bad about not responding to comments left on my blog directly on the blog but will visit new people to my blog and leave a comment on their latest entry thanking them for stopping by and leaving a comment and then I'll say something relevant to their writings.

I did enjoy the challenge; I'm with you wondering why some have big followings, but a lot of people participate in a lot of blog hops where they'll just follow maybe once and never come back to that blog. If I follow a blog, I choose to carefully, because I really want to get to know the person and read the majority of their posts and comment on them too. So in saying that, I'm going to follow you because I do like your writing and your sense of humor :)

    enjoy the day!

    1. Thank you Betty. You comment in your own way and that matters.
There are some blogs I read and the author seldom comes back to the post to comment, but they sometimes send emails to respond to the comment. Everyone does it different.
I will come over and check on your blog.

  6. I like your humor so I'll stay on the bus! Although, you freaked me out yesterday and, as sure as I was that December 2012 will NOT mark the end of the world as we know it, you now have me wondering.

I also wonder why some awesome blogs have so few followers. The other thing I've noticed is that some bloggers with hundreds of followers get very few comments. I think that's because they never comment on other blogger's posts. Blogging is reciprocal, man! They don't seem to understand that. Ah well...such is life. I was going to do A-Z this year but didn't think I would have time. I did enjoy reading my friend's posts, though. Although, I couldn't get to them all. It is really time-consuming.

    Nice blog...thanks for stopping by.

Just kidding, geez! Please don't throw me off the bus ;)

    1. Jenn, I am glad you want to stay on the bus.
It is tricky to write posts and hop to all the other blogs.
That is true about the comments. Some people have hundreds of followers , but never get a lot of comments.

  7. I personally thought the Blasphemy post was hysterical!

I started following your blog because I enjoy and relate to your sense of humor!

(ps - I also hated typing "thanks for stopping by" - but did it a lot!)

  11. the blasphemy pic made people hop off the bus eh? Ah, peeps love the light and simple, don't they. Ruth, I totally agree with number 9. Also, sometimes I crack myself up as well. I have stopped feeling silly about this because I'm with myself so much more than with others.

  13. Your posts are always fun, Ruth. Blasphemous? Heh? Have they visited me or Al? You're so tame in comparison. Well, who wants to give those people a bus ride, anyway? (It may require a really short bus.)

My theory on blog success: those who connect with others are successful. Those who don't, aren't.

    1. Glad you think so, Robyn. Yeah some people didn't like my April B word. Short bus- haha!
I guess that makes us successful bloggers.

  14. Thanks for stopping by! Oh, crap, I'M the one who stopped by. Well, thanks for letting me stop by!
I love your sense of humor. Blasphemous?? If your sense of humor is blasphemous, then may I get struck by lightning.
    Okay, gotta get inside.
NOTE: Do you really think I was typing this outside?
No, no, really. Thanks for letting me stop by.
And, by the way, the word IS out on me and Robyn. So, you really may want to keep your distance.

  17. Your Jesus pic doesn't bother me. But then again, I blog about monsters and zombies and stuff. We're weird anyway.

Congrats on completing A to Z!

  18. I picked up a lot more followers than commenters during the challenge. I did notice I can increase my comments by posting more comments on other blogs. So basically I think that means I need to choose between posting on my blog or commenting on other people's blogs. (I can't do a tremendous amount of both and also finish my WIP.) Guess which one is gonna win? :)

A blog that makes me laugh is a winner hands down. Keep writing!

    1. Cindy, a lot of people do the "I'll comment on yours if you comment on mine" thing. Which is somewhat hard to do a lot when things get busy.
      Thanks.
