I'm Quirky and I Know It

My daughter calls me odd.
I prefer QUIRKY.

QUIRKY is a fun word.
It describes me perfectly.

I quote movies. When it fits the moment.

I laugh at the news. And not the fluff pieces you are supposed to. Sometimes the wording is just funny/stupid.

I have lightning fast mood changes. I go from "That's so funny!" to "That's so not funny." You could say it's hormonal. Maybe it is the fact I am a redhead or a Scorpio. But, who knows? I call it part of my charm.
My quirkiness, if you will.

If I can find out how to make something myself, I will do so. Even if I could buy it at the store.
My yogurt making experiment did not work out so well. But I make awesome chocolate pudding!
Next project- my own laundry detergent. I will be ready for the apocalypse!

We have a riding lawn mower. We need one for our 4 acres. I'd still rather push mow. I actually find it strangely satisfying, albeit a little noisy.

A lot of people really don't seem to understand my humor. Honeyman says it's too intelligent for them.
So, if you get my humor- congratulations, you are one of the smart ones.

I think everyone has their own little quirks. That is what makes us unique.
What makes you quirky?

  1. I would rather use a push mower too, believe it or not. I say use it or lose it. You start sitting down to do everything and before you know it you have no choice in the matter.

I enjoy your humor so I must be one of the gifted ones. I had an issue with a few of my husband's friends once when I used the word fallacy in the punchline of a joke and none of them knew what it meant. They told me I was confusing it with the word 'phallus,' which wouldn't have even remotely made sense in the joke. I had to pull out the thesaurus and prove to them that I was smarter than all three of them. What a bunch of dolts! Of course, they knew what a phallus was. Geesh.

I think it's awesome that you make your own stuff. It's usually much more economical to make something yourself and when it comes to food it usually tastes a lot better too - except maybe not the yogurt! Haha.... ;)

    1. Jenn, that's great. I never knew anyone else that preferred push mowing.
I hate it when I say something that is funny and everyone just gets quiet and stares at me.

    2. "Look, it's a phallus. See?"
I'll bet that would get you into trouble in church.
Of course, it would depend which church you were in.
In MY church, I'd just hope they thought I said, "Pharisee."
Or I could keep my pants on. Which would probably be good advice.

  3. G'day Ruth, I like odd, I like quirky! You're never gonna believe this, but mowing the lawn with a push mower is exactly what makes me quirky :) I love it!!! So much so that my dream job is to have my own lawn mower business. Truthfully! Hope you've had a great day. If my hubby even thinks about mowing our lawn, he's gonna be sorry. Hehe. Cya mate!

  6. We "Quirks" enjoy our quirkiness. It's so much better than being vanilla!

  7. Quirks keep the world interesting. I talk to myself all the time. Plus I toss in made-up words. Sometimes I even talk to myself not noticing that others are within earshot, until after I've spouted a monologue. It's kind of fun noticing their reactions.

  9. I like to think I am a little quirky. The purple hair I have seems to support the fact.

I dont mow. In my world that is man's work. Or teenage son work.
I kill green stuff so it is probably for the best anyway

  10. A lot of people complained that they did not understand my sense humor. I don't know how many times I've had to tell them that I don't have one.
