Changing Times

I've been so busy lately.

Not much to report on the job hunt. I did find out there is a vanpool that goes from town to Des Moines. Hoping to find more details and maybe other locations.

The rain stopped and the garden dried hard as a rock.

Kiddo and I were able to powerweed until the ground baked and the weeds could not be pulled.

I've been making pickles.
My zucchini is starting to produce a lot.

Honeyman and I have started a new landscaping project.
Kiddo has a playhouse that we plan to turn into a chicken coop.
There are rocks around the playhouse so we are moving them and making a rock garden around the A/C unit outside.

I am also really learning to go over labels with a fine tooth comb.
I normally always have and stayed away from certain things.
But, things I didn't know I needed to look for really are what I do.
I went to truthinlabeling.org and printed out a list of alternate names for msg.
I've been making my own salad dressings and I will have to find other toothpaste or make my own.
My vitamins aren't even safe. Which would account for the reason that they really didn't give me any more energy and in fact made me more tired. And they are whole foods vitamins too.
I found out that I ate and drank a lot of stuff with msg and that accounted for my big reaction.
I accidentally drank some on Saturday and now my tongue went numb and now it is all irritated like I burned it.
I will get the hang of this.

Saturday was my family reunion.
We came home with a bunch of gluten free crackers, no one wanted to take home.
A couple kind have maltodextrin(msg) so they are for Honeyman. But, a couple other kind are OK.
Oh, and it was nice to see everyone.

Kiddo is a senior.
Already registered.
She wants me to take her senior pictures.
I don't know if I should be flattered that she has faith in me.
Considering the fact that she hates her picture being taken, she probably just doesn't give a shit.
Just have Mom do it and get it over with.

Have a great day!

  1. Thanks for the update, Ruth.
Sounds like you've been keeping busy. It must be a bummer when the garden turns to rock after the rains come and go and the sun gets at the mud. I like the idea of using the rocks to make a garden around the A/C - post some before and after photos, will you!

As to photo taking of Kiddo - she trusts you and that's cool! I know you'll do a great job too. Pass on my congrats that she's a senior - wow, where does the time fly. Mine's 27 and I'm still 20 - hahahahahaha, well, in my ever eroding mind I'll always be young.

Re the MSG bit - thanks for mentioning that website - I'm going to check it out.

Have a great day… week… until your next post! Cheers, Jenny

  2. Jenny, isn't it weird how they grow older and we never seem to?
msgtruth.org is another good site. It's so bad because natural flavor could mean it's used, but it might be something else. That is what happened Sat. I drank something with natural flavor. How sad is that?
It's good not to have anything around the A/C unit to block air flow and grass could clog the fins. I mentioned it and Honeyman said he should have thought of doing something like that before.

  3. Tom's of Maine is supposed to be all natural. I don't think it tastes as good as other toothpaste, though. Expensive too.

The while senior picture thing is outta hand. You'll save money, won't you?

    1. Susie, I will save money, but I'd like them to look good too. I will have to check out that toothpaste. Thanks.

  4. I don't think any of the vitamins I've ever had gave me any "energy".

    1. Adam, that is supposed to mean you don't need them. :)

  5. A senior? Isn't it absolutely amazing how fast time flies? I sometimes miss watching SpongeBob, Thomas the Tank Engine, Rugrats, and the Powerpuff Girls.
    Sometimes with my kids.

  6. I am also on the verge of switching jobs. It's kind of terrifying but screw it- let's give it a whirl. I figure, worst case scenario, I can always not accept the new job and stay with my old one. But if I don't try, I'll probably regret it a whole bunch. AND I'm trying to convince Matt to sketch out a patio project for next year. He appears reluctant. HA!

    1. I am sure you will get your patio. :)
Trying new things is great, especially jobs. Hopefully you will like your new gig.
