The Good Old Days

You know what I miss?

I miss when people didn't call between 11:00 and 1:00 or 5:00 and 7:00 because those were when most people ate meals.
FYI- A lot of people still do.

I miss going to the doctor and not having to pay that day if you had insurance.
Now, you have to pay a co-pay or they estimate your share and charge you before they see you.

I miss non-stretchy jeans. Really! Where the hell are they?
If men can still get them, why can't I?

I miss the Susan B. Anthony dollar.
I got it as change once instead of the quarter I was supposed to get. My mom made me walk all the way back to the store to give it back and get my quarter. It was a fabulous day. And then it wasn't.

Yeah, I miss a lot of things.
Aw, well.

That's the breaks.

  1. I know some of those.

No one in the U.S. seems to be get used to the dollar coin. They use them in other countries but not here. I heard that for the last dollar coin, the U.S. government paid billions to make them and now to store them in a facility because no one wants them. They would save the government so much money since they last way longer than paper money.

  4. A bit of good news perhaps:
I NEVER call people between those hours for the reason you say. I also never call after 9 PM or before 9 AM. And I get REAL cranky when people do. Mrs. Penwasser has this friend who regularly calls after 9:00 at night and it drives me insane. I usually say, "Who the hell is calling this late???" Although I know.
Also, I have a part-time job stocking vending machines. It takes $5 bills so the changer can dispense dollar coins like the Susan B. Anthony and the Sacajawea. It even dispenses the presidential ones, although Barack Obama's is worth only 50 cents and is supposed to go to the person behind you in line.

    1. I like the way you call, Al. My MIL knows when we eat and we've been together for almost 18 years. Yet she still calls when we are eating.
      The person behind you-good one!
