Save the Date!

But, which one?

I've been giving some thought to the end of times.

You know- when the Mayans quit doing their calendar for whatever reason.
And the date Nostradamus said the world ended.
But, like in all things, Nostradamus was a bit vague.
So, who really knows what the hell he meant?

Several cultures seem to be pointing to that date as the end of the world.
The date- 12/21/2012

Now, here is my dilemma.
Since one date is given how do we really know?
I mean, the world is full of different time zones and some reach the 21st before other parts of the world.

So, what do you go by?

If you are in Australia or New Zealand and the day has passed, can you assume that all is well?
Not really.

The Mayans lived it South America and the 21st isn't over yet.

And than there is the whole thing of the different cultures mention 12/21/2012 and they are all in different time zones.

I'm thinking we need to be on high alert from the 20th through the 23rd of December.
Just in case.

You never know.
You think you're safe.
Than, oops! You fall in a sink hole full of lava.

P.S- Some people think due to there not being leap years when the calendar was chiseled and there is now that the actual end of world has passed. I don't feel any different. I am sticking with the original 12/21/2012 date. Who's with me?

  2. I read that their calendar was a circle and when they got to the end they just started all over again. I don't believe it, but it will be fun to see all the End-of-the-World parties!

    1. Belle, that's a possibility. I've wondered if they just didn't get tired. They are the people that disappeared. Maybe they had to stop and get ready for their journey.
Ah, the parties! I bet you are right.

    1. Nicole, what way do you think it will go? Everyone buys early and opens early or no one buys just in case and everyone has to go on Christmas Eve. If there is one.

  6. It's scary how you and I tend to think alike! I had the same thoughts on December 31, 1999.

  8. Great, funny post. Thanks for sharing. I'm personally gonna live my life the same no matter what. Though I am going to avoid lava on the 21st of December.

    1. Jessica, I am glad you enjoyed it. I think we almost have to. What happens if we blow all our money thinking the world will end and it doesn't? Than we will run out of toilet paper and not be able to pay rent. That wouldn't be good.

    1. Laura, I wonder what date the Mayans disappeared. That could explain everything.

    2. All of the Mayans did not disappear; although millions did vanish, all at once, about 1,200 years ago, in the ninth century AD. There are many, many Mayans living today, principally in Guatemala. from MAYAN ARCHAEOLOGY on the web. Islam has a belief about the end time and Catholicism has one too. the date the Mayan calendar stops just is a major focus as that is a specific date.

    3. The Chinese had it too. So did some odd dude that used some drug to get to the realization. I watched a show about it a few weeks back, but forget his name.
Anywho, it could have just been the chiseling Mayans that disappeared. They took their little hammer tools so no one could do anymore work.

  10. LOL; loved your thoughts about it! Imagine if one's birthday was 12/21 (mine is). What a birthday celebration that would be this year! But seriously, I don't think its going to happen on 12/21/2012 :) So I better start my Christmas shopping.....

    1. Betty, you could have two. One early- call it a "just in case" party and have another on your day. It probably won't, but the "Just in case" is a good excuse for celebrating twice.
