Well, I have researched what is going on with my yummy stuff blog.
It's in blog purgatory.
Or my domain is.
It expired and I can't get in to renew it.
Some guy told me how to get in.
Which was no help at all.
In fact, he has told many people the exact same thing.
Dude!
I know my username.
I know my password.
I know I am screwed!
But, anyway...
Once it "expires" it goes into purgatory
and it stays there while they give you a period of time to renew.
After that, it will go up for auction.
If no one finds that name valuable enough to buy, it will be "released"
and I can get it back.
So, in conclusion, it will stay a blogspot until other arrangements can be made.
All this because I didn't want it to automatically renew.
I wanted to control when I paid to re-up it.
What was I thinking?
I know
I know.
I've taken the train to Crazytown.
I will not be back anytime soon.
That sucks. We've kinda been through that nightmare before. Except we DID have automatic renewal, it's just that my credit card expired. But I had no way of getting in to change that and no one would help me. I finally figured it out on the very last day before it expired, otherwise the payment would have bounced, the renewal would have been failed, and it would have been auctioned. And most likely bought. Dealing with domains is a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteABFTS, I'm glad you got it figured out. It all seemed so simple...
DeleteWait, Ruth's Yummy Stuff will be auctioned off to the highest bidder? That is just weird. It sounds kinda flattering, actually, but it's offensive that they're doing this. Sorry. WTH is wrong with blogger? They're going nuts. They must really like your recipes.
ReplyDeleteRobyn, it is odd. They give me a control panel to do things from and I can't even get in. From the help forum, I understand it is a big problem. I could use ruthsyummystuff right now if I wanted to go with a net or co or whatever. If I want a .com I have to wait to see what happens.
DeleteWOW on your Yummy Stuff blog. :/ At the bottom it even has the button for renewal instructions. That does sound crazy they won't let you just renew it. If they sell it who gets the profit?
ReplyDeleteGossip_Grl. The instructions don't really help. They tell me who I bought the name from. I know that. I still have the email receipt from paying for it. They can't get the recipes just the name, so that's good. Google gave me the rights to begin with so I am sure they'd profit from it. But, there may be a reason why it doesn't cost as must to register through them?
DeleteIt's on my kindle...or is this something else?
ReplyDeleteSusie, I have a blog by that name too. It's the blog that I am talking about, not the kindle book.
DeleteAll this blogger and domain talk is making get a headache, but those yummy recipes are making me hungry. Make sure to post it when you finally get it all sorted out, I can wait…(tell stupid Google to hurry up) :)
ReplyDeleteAlex, it is so confusing and I really know more then I want to.
DeleteSorry to read your in this mess. Recently when deleting one of Miss CP's domain addresses (has 3 didn't need the 4th) I was inundated with emails to renew it… weird how when we want to keep it they make it near impossible, but when we want to get rid of it they hound us to keep it.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it's time I volunteered to be part of the Mission to Mars program… I can't imagine those Martians being this daft! (one can only hope) :) :)
oops… typo alert…
DeleteSorry to read "you're" in this mess… I hate the English language sometimes… :P
Jenny, I am not kidding when I say I want my own planet.
DeleteIt's going to Purgatory? Well, that's pretty good because, according to the nuns, I'll be spending a couple thousand years there. So, I'll have something to read.
ReplyDeleteAl, it's already there, waiting.
