I AM BACK

I've been prodded a little by Robyn and Jenny that I haven't posted anything new in a while.
I didn't realize it had been so long.

I guess the biggest news that has happened has been the twins.
My niece had her boys.
She went into the hospital at just under 32 weeks and they were able to stop her labor.
So, the insurance company wanted her to go home and a couple days later her water broke.
By that time, she was 33 weeks so the babies were in NICU for a couple weeks.

They were able to come home last week.

In other news, baby steps that I thought I was making with my sister must have been all in my head.
Maybe she was just being polite and I read more into it.
My niece has told me over and over again that she is not the same person.

I got very upset over our last exchange, which had to do with a joke that she took wrong.
She got nasty and hung up on me.
Which is OK to do, because I, apparently, have been not so nice to her in the past.
She did apologize for overreacting, but I am just tired of all of it.

But, I am good.
Just have to get it all behind me.

What else?
Helping my daughter practice her driving.
She went through driver's ed, but they are still going to make her do a drive test.
They signed the certificate that way before she even completed all of her drive time, which pissed me off.
I understand making her drive if she needs it, but I don't understand not allowing her to do all of her time before deciding.

I got my garden planted and it is looking pretty good.
I won't get to work in it today, as it stormed pretty good last night and it's very wet.

My Yummy Stuff blog is giving me grief.
I had trouble renewing the domain name so it went back to a blogspot and google doesn't appear to be allowing me to just buy it again as new so in order to get my domain name back, I will have to move. Which is fine, but it still appears to be showing as a registered name.
And the search is not working and the recipe pages aren't right so I need to remove them and start over.

On a bright note, I did buy a 12.5 kg (27.5 lbs) container of cocoa powder.
It's a good thing I am a storage container hoarder.

    1. Susie, I don't think I will have to worry about that one. :)

  2. I got my fiancee Daisy the driving lessons she needed to get her license. Over here the school itself can approve you, but you must go to the DMV to get the official license with a paper from the school.

They can surprise test you if they want, so we waited until they were about to close to go up there. We had no problems.

    1. Adam, It's the same way here. She basically took the class to avoid having to test drive.
But, they wrote right on the certificate that she has to drive so that plan got shot out of the water.

  3. Welcome back, Ruth - sounds like you've been in the tornado - time to sneak into the eye and breath… :)

It's so long ago I can't remember Miss CP's stint with driving - only that we went through Young Drivers' of Canada and she got through it all before they tightened the ropes and made the whole process longer and a nightmare for parents wanting to help their kids along.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your daughter that all goes well.

I'm looking forward to some of your gardening posts. As I mentioned I've got one potted tomato plant with three tomatoes - I'm like a little kid at Christmas! I'm sure the novelty will wear off, but until them I'm out there everyday looking at them (okay, and talking to them) Yikes, I really need to find some friends! hahahaha

Family can be a pain, but also a blessing - problem is knowing which is which and when. I'd be happy to have you as a sister if you're in the market - mine sucks - she hasn't talked to me in 14 years - that's right 14 years. Really, like what's that all about - and we wonder why world peace is never going to be a reality when we can't even get family peace in order!

Glad to have you back - like old times...

    1. Jenny, you got that right about a nightmare. The whole graduated license and having a permit for a year before getting a license. She hasn't had it a year yet so she can't test for it for a couple months yet. More time to practice though.
The novelty never wears off. Every year, gardeners everywhere get excited to see their plants produce. A few months from now, it won't be so big a deal cause you started harvesting. But, next year, you will get all excited all over again.
I can always take a sister. I figure that when my parents are gone, I probably won't see her again. She says it is because I don't accept her for her beliefs so she doesn't want to talk to me. But, my older sis keeps her mouth shut and it doesn't really make a difference in how much she contacts her.

    2. Sad, isn't it, how family can treat each other. Always a mystery to me, how we can be from the same gene pool yet be so different.

In my business the spectrum of religious beliefs is vast - I've always enjoyed the debate but at the end of the day (and you can tell your sister this) we all pray to the same god (if one believe in god in the first place). Silly how we think these manmade religions are real… funny how some folks just can't be open minded and realize there is room for all of our view and opinions.

Oh well… such is life! Your sister's loss.

  4. Glad to get some news from you. I say live and let live, but so many people feel like they have to change everybody's mind, well, her loss anyway. I hope your daughter's driving test goes fine, I'm sure it will, let us know. Now on to the really important stuff: what the heck are you going to do with all that cocoa? Any dessert you want to try on me, I'm with it….:)

  5. Alex, Sis would say that I want to change her mind, which is true, in a way.
We are making sure Kiddo is totally comfortable before she goes in for her test. I think she gets her driving anxiety from me. :)
So much to make- I do make a lot of chocolate syrup. And there's pudding and brownies and candies. A trip to landlocked Iowa may be in order.
Now, you should post something new. Or send me an email or something and let me know how you are. My email's on my profile page.

  6. Welcome Back Ruth and congrats on the new baby nephews! I have family that do not understand my sense of humor too! Hopefully you can get your blog name back with no problems! That is a lot of cocoa powder and laughing at the container hoarder! Glad you are back!

    1. Gossip_Grl,
What can I say? The cocoa powder was a bargain. Even with shipping.
I will figure it out, even if it means going with a .co or .net instead. :)
      Thanks!

    1. Munir, they seem so tiny to me, but even early they were over 5 pounds. Since they got home, they have been growing quite a bit.
