Ten Things Tuesday- Too Many

Too many days since I have had much to say.
Getting used to this new schedule is harder than I thought it would be.

I can do it.
Just take me a while, that's all.

This week's Ten Things Tuesday is about what there is too many of right now.

1. Idiots
I see and hear so many things that just make me want to shake my head.  I think that nothing will ever surprise me. Than, boom! There it is!

2. Numbers in the forecast
It is supposed to hit 102 degrees F. today. That's the temp. not the heat index. That is one too many digits.

3. Typos
Lately, I am having to continually go back and correct spelling. I keep hitting the letter next to the one I want.

4. Know-it-alls
Why does everyone think they know everything? And no such thing as a normal conversation and exchange of ideas. If you don't see things the same way, you will be enlightened as to the "truth". Because they "know!".

5. Zucchini
I cook two, I go out and pick three more. My daughter gave them out to the teachers at school Monday. I love zucchini and never thought I would say too many. But... TOO MANY!!

6. Bank problems
Honeyman's direct deposit got kicked back twice so he got a written check. He took that in and it was filled out wrong so they wouldn't cash it. Thursday is pay day. Let's hope for good news this time.

7. Cicada killers
They are huge, nasty wasps that dig in the ground and drag cicadas down their holes for the young to feed on. The stingers are huge and the wasps do not like anyone near their nest. Problem is that they dig all over the garden. Under the broccoli, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini. It makes it difficult to do anything without being chased by one. Thankfully their season is almost over.

8. Green tomatoes
I have about 50 tomato plants and they have lots of tomatoes on them, but they are staying green. I have been able to make one batch of salsa. That makes 5 pints. But, when they all turn. Holy Crap!

9. First day of school pictures
Last week was the first day of school for a lot of kids around here. Facebook was just covered with first day of school pictures. I get it if the kid is just starting school. Other than that I just don't.

10. Golf carts
OK, the nearest town to me has 1800 people. Look at the golf carts. I couldn't fit them all in the picture.
This was at the wedding I went to. Lots of people own golf carts in this town. By the way, they did not have enough chairs and we don't own a golf cart so we had to stand the whole time.

Have a great Tuesday!

  1. I am shaking my head at the golf-cart wedding. That is so strange, rude and snobby, amusing and fun for golf cart owners. But why? Did they meet at hole #5? Bizarre.

    1. Robyn, I don't know where they met. She doesn't golf that I know of. Snobby fits though. He golfs a lot. People were sitting in their golf carts drinking beer during the ceremony.

    2. Snobby, Robyn? Ruth WAS talking about WASPS. Well, there you are.
BTW, beer and golf go very well together.

  2. I agree with one to four and then six to ten. Five? It is just that Zucchini is such a nice Vegetable. How about Zucchini cake?

    1. Yes, it is a nice vegetable, Munir. I've shredded and froze a bunch. I've made brownies and bread and fried it. You name it, I have made it.

  3. I hope you smoke out those wasps and feed on their grubs. That's what we'd do in the jungle.

    1. How do you smoke wasps? Do you roll them in paper? Or put them in a bowl?

    2. Gorilla Bananas, if I took all their grubs, what would the gophers eat?

  4. 102 degrees is one digit too many? Would you prefer 10 or 02? Or did you mean 101? Well, as long as it's a DRY heat.
I hate WASPS with their country clubs, yachts, 401Ks, and servants. And, they kill cicadas. Which sounds suspiciously Mexican to me.

    1. Al, I'd rather have two digits instead of three. The numbers don't matter.OK, they do. Anything between 32 and 90 that way my tomatoes won't freeze and I won't sweat to death.
Dry heat? Where do you think I live? That does not exist here.

    1. Adam, I know. Why ruin all that outdoors time with exercise? Plus, walking around with a beer cooler is so limiting.

  6. I have too many zucchini and my tomatoes are also still all green. But you know what, if that's the worst thing that's happened to me this week, I'd say I had a pretty good week.

    1. Gail, I am not a big fan of the cicada, but I feel bad when I see one of those wasps carrying it back to it's hole.
