There's a Study for That

Did you know that getting shots or being poked with needles won't hurt so much if you look away or close your eyes?

I know!
It's amazing!

I've always heard that, but I couldn't be sure it really worked.
Now, I do.

Cause they(don't remember who exactly) did a study.
Now, it's legit.

It's not just a story.

Now, I'm wondering about that study.
Was it a government paid for study and how much grant money did the people get to do the study?
Did people go to labs and get poked repeatedly while looking and not looking?
Did they get poked so much while they looked that their arms went numb so they couldn't feel it when they looked away?

And another thing.
How do I go about getting grant money for a study about something everyone already knows about?

  1. Gotta love some of the crazy studies people seem to get paid huge amounts to do

  3. it does make you wonder; there seems to be great valid research studies and then ones that seem really stupid and nonrelevant in my opinion. This one seems like it falls in that second category.

    1. Betty, I know what you mean. When I saw it on the news I had to laugh. They needed a study for that?

  4. It is disturbing that money is wasted on "scientific research" like this.

  5. In Philadelphia, if you close your eyes when you get shot, you won't see what killed you.
    Science sure is weird, huh?

  6. I never look and I've never ever looked, so the pain is relative, I s'pose. Damn, I blew it for myself.

    1. Karen, I have little veins and sometimes the nurse will miss and than root around under skin to find it. Looking away doesn't seem to help all that much.

  7. I guess the guy that authorized the study was the same guy that authorized the $29,000 toilet. I always look away, the only time I looked, I fainted..

  8. I don't mind getting shots, but I hate having blood drawn. There's something that feels awful about having a needle in your arm. I can feel the blood being drawn, and, most of the time, I am close to passing out.
