I am Just Going to Say It

I've been biting the big blogging ass.
Biting the blogger ass?
No, definitely biting the blogging ass.

I say I will do better and I never do.
I want to write something, but I never do.
I have nothing.

NOTHING!

OK, I have this.
What is the world coming to? You just can't take a horse for a walk on the bike/walking trail anymore.

Honeyman just started his new job and after years of doing everything in the evening and staying up til whenever, it is not quite a delight to have to go to bed early so I can get up at 5:30 to make his breakfast.

My oldest niece got married Sunday.
The guys wore kilts.
I tweeted Craig Ferguson about coming.
I even told him could wear his kilt.
Sadly, he did not come.

This Saturday, I have another wedding to go to.
This one is on a golf course.
Not in the club house-such as it is.
It's on the course.
I forget which hole.

To save them renting chairs, they wanted owners of golf carts to just use those.
And the bride was buying 100 cupcakes for the reception.
They invited 500 people.
I am sure that will be plenty.

  1. OMG if you want a big wedding, then you have to pay for it! No skimping. Uggh.

    1. Sue, they act like they have no money. I'd like to be their kind of poor.

  2. I doubt that sign is legal. Nothing (literally) should be on any part of the stop sign.

    1. I know, Adam. Fortunately, this is Iowa and unless someone tells them they can't do that, they do. I see stuff like that all the time.

  3. My cousin's son got married a few years ago. The entire wedding party wore kilts (well, the ladies didn't-you know what I mean).
I had to ask....yes, they wore skivvies under them things.
Wasn't on a golf course, though.
    "I forget which hole."
That one is too easy; I'll let it slide right over the plate.

  4. Oh, got an interesting Iowa anecdote for you. A couple days ago, my daughter and I went to Gettysburg (apparently, something important happened there). Anyway, my neighbor said that her husband's aunt is a teacher in Iowa and she has no idea what Gettsyburg was all about. Amazing. My neighbor did say (by way maybe of an excuse?) that she lived in a remote part of Iowa.
Okay...REMOTE part of Iowa? Wait for it....isn't that redundant? ;-)
All kidding aside, look on the bright side. You're not next door to New Jersey.

    1. Al,Did they have swords too? I guess they were included in the kilt rental.
That is a little scary about a teacher not knowing about Gettysburg. Maybe that's all part of dumbing down of America. Find stupid teachers, you get stupid kids.
I'd like to argue the remote part. But, I can't. Certain parts of the state don't even have cell service.

    2. Here's the thing...they weren't rented. My aunt was born and raised in Scotland.
As far as the teacher, my neighbor HAS to be putting me on. Nobody can be that stupid.
      Can they?

    3. My sister's ex owns a kilt and he gave away my niece. The rest of the wedding party had to rent.
I'd really like to think no one is that stupid, but I know some of the things my daughter should have learned in school and didn't and it is frightening. For instance, I asked her who we gained independence from and she didn't know. They were never told. Granted this was several years ago, but who doesn't learn that in elementary?

  5. Honestly, I think huge weddings are stupid and a waste of money. I put on my wedding for $2,000, and I still have people come up to me and say it was the coolest wedding they've ever been to (we catered everything ourselves, we made everything, we had fun events for everyone so it wasn't just a day of 'watch us, watch us', etc).

    1. ABFTS, I can't imagine spending so much on a wedding either. We spent $55 for the judge and got married in his garden. I think your wedding sounds fun. My niece had hers in a place that stipulated what caterers she could or could not use. Ridiculous!

    1. Lynn, from what she said, they didn't expect as many to accept as did.

  7. 500 is a big number, but my brother pulled it off for his daughter.

I have not written in a while either. We were away for almost a week and even if I am home , it is like being at work. Hubby does not want to walk from the living room to the kitchen in spite of being told to exercise. When I am not home he will get things by himself. So, do not feel bad if you don't write. Write when you need to or have something. Reading is just as much fun and keeps you active in the blogger world:)

    1. Munir, your husband sounds a lot like my father in law. If my mother in law is home, she waits on him hand and foot because he can't seem to get up. But, he is fine doing it when she goes somewhere for the day.

  8. Only 100 cupcakes for 500 people? Sounds like a bring your own dessert in a golf-cart wedding.

    Be well, Ruth.

    1. Robyn, I am sure it will be interesting. No doubt, they are spending big on the booze so they have to skimp on the eats.

  9. I know how that blogging thing goes. I've been biting it lately too.

I saw a very strange looking guy wearing a kilt going into my local bank branch the other day. My wife insisted that I accompany her inside as she was afraid and I can't say that I blamed her. I was kind of creeped out as well. I was sure that he was about to commit some terroristic bank robbery. Turns out he was just a very strange looking guy in a outre kilt conducting some bank business. Kind of out of place in this primarily Hispanic neighborhood.

  10. Biting the blogging ass? Does that mean someone's ass blogging? I can well believe it because I've read posts that remind me of ass gravy. Not all of them written by me.

How about taking a KFC bucket to the wedding reception?

    1. Gorilla Bananas, you are confusing me with your logic.
Several people took booze, but no food. If you came late to the party, you were out of luck.

  11. That is a massive wedding and from what you say about the catering, I think I would be scouting out the local cafe for a feed on the way home.

    1. Mynx, in my dinky town there was nothing open that late. Not as many people showed as they said and they still didn't have enough food.
