Ten Things Tuesday- Happiness Is

I've been feeling a bit out of sorts the last few days.
I thought making a list of what makes me happy would be beneficial right about now.

So, without further adieu...

... this week's Ten Things Tuesday is about what happiness is to me.

1. A hug
Hugs just feel good. They say " I care", " I want you to feel better", or "It's good to see you".

2. Peanut butter and chocolate chips
Grab a bowl, stick in some peanut butter and a big ole handful of chocolate chips and you have quite the treat. You may need a drink. YUMMY!

3. A monkey water bath
Who doesn't love one of those? Check out the link for an explanation. The short version is just a really hot bath. It feels really good and so relaxing.

4. No school
Who would think that at my age I would care about such a thing? I am not an early morning person, but I have a teenager that the state seems to think needs to go to school and the school thinks the bus needs to stop at my house at 7 am. Being the good mom I am, I get up with her and make her breakfast and pack her lunch. Have you smelled the lunch they serve at school? Ugh!

5. Baking
I find it relaxing. If I did it as often as I wanted, the whole family would be extremely rotund.

6. Talking with my daughter
I hear so much about moms and teenage daughters never communicating and it makes me realize how fortunate I am.

7. Seeing my garden grow
I have broccoli starting to head and my cabbage will be soon. I can pick some green onions. My peas are starting to pod( I'm a pod person!). It will only get better from here. Yes, I am just a little excited.

8. Paying the last payment
It just feels so good to be done paying for something. Two months ago it was the orthodontist. This month is Honeyman's student loan. Yay!

9. Seeing my dad
My dad is getting old. He's got emphysema and still smokes. He is more frail every time I see him. I am glad that he is still around. For how long is anyone's guess. I need to be grateful for the time I get with him.

10.  Having friends stop by
This doesn't happen too often. Everyone is so busy with their own lives. Plus, we are on totally opposite schedules.  Such is life!

What kinds of things bring you happiness?

Just Call Me Grammar Nazi

Or grammar nerd.
Or grammar police.
Or anal retentive.

The choice is yours.

But, bad spelling irritates me.
I normally just let it go.
I don't point it out.
That would make me more of a nerd that suffers in silence, wouldn't it?

The police or Nazis would be mean.

Everyone makes goofs now and then.
But, some people do it constantly and very badly.
Almost to the point that you cannot decipher the words.

Learn to pay attention to the little squiggly line under words, People.
It may be useful.

I have mentioned it before
but, I am saying it again.

It is congraTulations, not congraDulations!

I was told it came about from greeting card companies trying to be clever with their
graduation cards.
It's not clever, it's stupid!

Do you know how many people are spelling it congrads or congradulations now?
A whole freakin' lot of them.
And not just for graduation.
For EVERYTHING!

It's annoying and I know too many people that are writing it!

I just saw a status on facebook and while I like the sentiment, I cannot like it.
I just CAN'T!

I'll write on his wall about said subject later.
Not about the incorrect spelling though.
I will let that go.

I just needed to get that off my chest.

You may go about your day now.

So That's Why It's Memory Foam

I learned something very interesting a couple days ago.

Memory foam mattresses are bad for your sex life.

Sure, you sleep great!
Just forget about getting freaky naughty.

Couples are complaining.
The person on the bottom sinks way down into the mattress.

The person on top gets no traction.
And due to the material heating up, it's a really sweaty mess.

Sales on these beds are still going up.

So, people either don't know about the fun times problem
OR
they'd just rather sleep.

Or maybe their freaky naughty doesn't involve a bed.
That's a thought.

But, now we know the real reason that it's called memory foam.
You buy the foam mattress and all you have are memories of dancing in the sheets.

Busy With a Side of Only Slightly Less Busy

Things have been busy lately.

I have been trying to get to my blogs.
Which, sadly, is not working out so well lately.

Garden planting time is upon me.
I have been planting the cool weather plants already.
But, now the tomatoes and peppers and all that jazz needs in the ground.

Strawberries have started ripening.
These are my first three of the year.

Last week Honeyman got a trip to the doctor.
They thought it was a staph infection.
But, they took a culture and it didn't grow out so they are not sure now what he's got.

He is on antibiotics though.
And it is slowly going away.

Oh, I did hear on the news about this guy that runs a diner and makes his own maple syrup.
This makes me wonder.
Did the reporter mean maple flavored pancake syrup or does this guy actually tap his own maple tree and make syrup?
Cause with him running a restaurant, I don't really see him as having the time.

Thursday, the plan is to make the trek out to my parent's house to get the sweet potato plants that my dad started for me.
I have become addicted to sweet potato fries and they were supplying the potatoes.
Now, I am going to try growing my own.

I want the plants.
I just don't really want to go get them.

Ah, well.
Such is life.

Is there anything ever free OR easy?

Ten Things Tuesday- Realizations from A-Z

Yes, it's late.
But, it's still Tuesday in my world so I still have time to get this in.

I wasn't sure about doing a reflections post for the A-Z blogging challenge.
Than I figured.
Hey- free idea. Awesome.

This week's Ten Things Tuesday is about realizations I came to during the April A-Z blogging challenge of 2012.

1. Lots of people like themes.
That's just too much discipline for me. I am a winger. That's what I do. If you don't like it, get off the bus.

2. I can write some funny stuff.
I am not gonna lie. I wrote a few things that made me laugh. Ok, maybe more than a few. I find myself hilarious.

3. Some people don't like my humor.
I know! Are you as amazed as I am? Some people really seemed offended by my blasphemy picture. Deep down, I had a feeling that might happen. They got off the bus.

4. I am never gonna make it through the linky list.
I still haven't gotten through. But, I did better this year than last. There is just so many and I am just one person. If you made it through that gigantic list, let me know so you can bask in my adulation of your awesomeness.

5. I hate the comment "Thanks for stopping by."
I've said it. I am sure you have too. You write it when you have nothing else. I wrote it when I got some not so flattering comments on a post. Now, I hate it. I don't want to do it anymore and I don't want to get it back from people. I'd rather have no answer. Just makes me cringe. Thanks or thank you is OK, though. I don't now why. It just is!

6. I missed my regular blogs.
I didn't get to most of the ones I normally read. I tried to get to a few. I hated missing posts.

7. I needed more sleep.
Some nights I lay awake in bed trying to think what my word was going to be for the next day.

8. That person took my word!
I was going for originality so if I saw that someone used a word before I wrote my post, I went with another word. If it was already written, I just went with it.

9. I don't know why some bloggers don't have more followers.
The writer is interesting and/or funny. I really don't get how some people have this huge following and others have almost none. Some really big bloggers aren't as fun to read.

10. Pounding my head on my keyboard will not cause ideas to pop into my head.
Nor will it write the post. It happens when you just wing it!

Save the Date!

But, which one?

I've been giving some thought to the end of times.

You know- when the Mayans quit doing their calendar for whatever reason.
And the date Nostradamus said the world ended.
But, like in all things, Nostradamus was a bit vague.
So, who really knows what the hell he meant?

Several cultures seem to be pointing to that date as the end of the world.
The date- 12/21/2012

Now, here is my dilemma.
Since one date is given how do we really know?
I mean, the world is full of different time zones and some reach the 21st before other parts of the world.

So, what do you go by?

If you are in Australia or New Zealand and the day has passed, can you assume that all is well?
Not really.

The Mayans lived it South America and the 21st isn't over yet.

And than there is the whole thing of the different cultures mention 12/21/2012 and they are all in different time zones.

I'm thinking we need to be on high alert from the 20th through the 23rd of December.
Just in case.

You never know.
You think you're safe.
Than, oops! You fall in a sink hole full of lava.

P.S- Some people think due to there not being leap years when the calendar was chiseled and there is now that the actual end of world has passed. I don't feel any different. I am sticking with the original 12/21/2012 date. Who's with me?

Ten Things Tuesday- Reasons to Friend Someone on Facebook

There are all kinds of reasons people "friend" someone on Facebook.
Some I get.
Others I don't.

I know.
I am admitting to not knowing everything.
I know.
You're shocked.
Cause you thought I did.

So this week's Ten Things Tuesday is why people "friend" other people on Facebook.

1. You are actually friends in real life.
I'd say this is a good reason. No explanation needed.

2. You met the other person on another website.
It could be a forum or this here blogging site.

3. To play Zynga games
You know like Farm Town or Mafia Wars or even Cafe World or whatever the it game is now. I have seen discussions on forum sites about wanting to add people that play that game so they can reach a level or something.
I really don't get these games. I tried to be nice when I joined Facebook and did a couple for a friend. You can't win. All you do is click and get to another level. What is the point in playing a GAME that you can't win and has no end?

4. You are friends with that person's boyfriend or spouse.
This seems to be mostly female friending  friends of their significant other. Though I have, on occasion, seen it go the other way.

5. Being related
I have gotten requests from family members that I don't know or barely know. Sure we are related, but that is as far as it goes.

6. Same name
Cool! You have the same name as I do, you must be my friend. Yes, people do that. Why?
I have no idea.

7. You are married to my relative
That makes you family by default. You must be my friend.

8. We both belong to the same Facebook page OR group
Now, just because I like chipped beef on toast AND you like chipped beef on toast that doesn't mean we are now besties. Go ahead. Knock yourself out. Send me a friend request.

9. We went to school together
It's been 20 years and counting. I haven't seen you since the 10 year reunion(which, by the way, sucked monkey balls).

10. To get more people to see their links
I have not done this. But, my husband has accepted requests thinking they might see the links he shares of my yummy stuff blog. I never share welcome to me links. I do on twitter sometimes, but not Facebook.
