Contemplating the Compliment

I am not always so good at receiving compliments.

Unless it's about my cooking.
I can say without conceit that I do that fabulously!

Some days I just feel like people are just telling me what I want to hear.
Unless it's about cooking.
Did I tell you I do that fabulously?

The one and only compliment I remember getting from my mother as a teenager was about my pie crust.
What an odd thing to get a compliment about.
But, it's true.
I do a great pie crust.

I am smart.
I am reasonably attractive.
I can refinish furniture like nobody's business- unless that is your life's work, than never mind.

But, I don't always feel completely comfortable hearing it.
They make me feel great.
Who doesn't love a compliment?

I know.
The weird people.

But, since that's not me.
I love compliments.

So go ahead.
Shower me with compliments!
I promise not to feel uncomfortable.

I would like to thank all my new followers.
I'd also like to thank Sylvia at Word Doodles for awarding me the Stylish Blogger Award.

  2. I can certainly appreciate a good pie crust. They're tough. (Do you use butter and shortening?)

And as far as ccompliments go, I think you have a great smile. :)

  3. My father in law made an outstanding pie crust, I wish I'd gotten him to teach me before he passed.

Funny how a pie crust can really leave an impression!

  4. Jamie, thanks.
    Happy Monday to you.
Grilling season here to stay soon, I hope. You can come for a cookout.

Jennifer, Sometimes I do shortening, sometimes butter. I prefer a butter crust. Kiddo would rather have shortening.

    Matt, thanks for the follow.
Just practice. The more you make, the better you get.

  7. I admire anyone who cooks fabulously - because I don't. It's year since I made any pastry, because I was hopeless at that - so I'm going to compliment you on your pastry!

It really sucks how a bad childhood can follow you clear into adulthood.

  9. Great post. I can so relate. Not about the cooking cause I suck at that, about the compliments.

  12. I envy anyone who can make a good pie crust. I finally gave up...pie has too many calories anyway. :)
